Soldier Of Gods 9.

Disputed Lands.

"I've got squads all throughout there" says Lisell Maera the scout commander as she points at the illusion spell cast by a Krean navigator.
The spell, which is an overhead map on the table, is zoomed in on the southern border region of the city-state of Tuledare.
"Some would of moved northwards by now to infiltrate their army" adds the Farqian scout commander, who continues with "Especially if the royal thief has got in contact with them".
The field commander Tamric Drubine who is on the other side of the large table, nods his head in agreement with Lisell Maera, or Lis as she's more commonly called by those who know her well.
"Dalin or his highness will get in contact with them when they get to the capital city" adds the scout commander, who in her early twenties, is of a similar age as the field commander.
The young field commander, who leads the Farqian Fifth Army looks around at those in attendance of the early morning strategy meeting, then he frowns.
"Where the hell is Dorc?" asks Tamric Drubine the field commander, who then mutters "I sent that runner to get him a while ago".
The field commander, who is noble born, originally hails from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin. Also sent Beldane the cleric and sir Percavelle Le Dic to go and find the ork warleader. Who is a general in the Armies of Farque.
"I wanted to send him off to check on the progress of Tovis and his companies" quietly says Tamric Drubine referring to the war engineer and his corp.
The young Fifth Army commander glances over at his partner Saanea the witch. The spellcaster from near the coast of the Southlands. The Maldin Hills to be exact. Who slightly nods to indicate she'll try and locate the big, burly ork.
Tamric Drubine or Tam as he's more often than not, referred to by those who know him well. Then looks away to his right, to the figure standing at that end of the table, and asks "Zam how goes things with the Phamal regulars?".
The ex mercenary who hails from The City Of Ruins, sourly smiles, then commander Zam tells the field commander "As well as can be I guess" followed by "At least they're following my orders".
Zam, who is in his early twenties too, then says in a dry tone of voice "It would certainly be a lot easier if his highness was here to deal with them".
The ex mercenary continues with "Some of those in their military command were put in place by their ruling council at the outset of this war" he then adds "They don't have any experience at all when it comes warfare".
Field commander Drubine grunts when he hears that, as he figured as much when he himself has met with some of those in command of Phamalian army.
"Just as long as they keep following orders, and doing what we tell them to do, then things will be fine" says the noble born field commander, who was given his rank over six years ago now, when he was just seventeen.
Commander Zam sourly smiles as he hopes so. Though he wishes the elven envoy, prince Helbenthril Raendril was here to deal with Phamalian army commanders. Well, those ones with little to no experience. Who were given their commission for political reasons.
Tam is just about to look at his lover Saanea the witch to see if she's located general Dorc. When he notices the Krean navigator frowning as he looks towards an open window. Here in the common room of the inn that the field commander is using as his headquarters building.
"What is it?" the commander of the Fifth Army of Farque asks the spellcaster from the Krean Protectorate, which lies in the northern mountains of the Lands Farque.
"Er?" replies the Krean navigator, whose dragon like facial features can best be described as wincing at this time.
Just then, Tam along with everyone else gathered around the large table in the common room of the inn, hears shouting and yelling from outside.
After a moment some of the voices out on the streets in this part of the town, are easily recognizable to those who know them.
"The fuck?" mutters field commander Drubine, while across the table, Lisell Maera sourly smiles, then says "What the hell have that lot been up to?" followed by "No good by the sounds of it".
The commander of the Fifth Army of Farque looks over at his partner the witch from the Maldin Hills, who just rolls her eyes, and dryly says "You don't want to know".
Just then, Shur Kee the monk comes running in through the open front door of the inn, and enters the common room.
He's quickly followed by a near breathless Beldane the cleric, and a few moments later. A heavily breathing sir Percavelle Le Dic runs into the common room from outside.
The nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic, who has the visor of his full helm up at the moment. Might be sucking in air to get back his breath, but he's smiling from ear to ear as he does so.
"Who would of thought that fat green demon could move so quickly, wot" says a near out of breath sir Percavelle Le Dic.
As a loud roar, clearly one of anger can be heard out on the streets in front of the inn. The young noble who hails from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin asks "Where's that runner I sent?".
"He was smart" says Beldane the cleric as he gets his breath back, the powerful spellcaster in the half plate armour then dryly adds "He ran".
The former paladin, sir Percavelle chuckles as he quickly closes the front door of the inn, and places the bar plank he finds on the floor, into the iron holders across the back of the heavy door.
The innkeeper who was sitting near the door, is just about to protest, when the former Earl of Le Dic tells him "I say good chap, I'd run away if I was you" followed by a quick "Wot".
And before the innkeeper can ask why, the large heavily armoured knight tells him "The ork". The proprietor of the inn quickly gets up, and runs upstairs as he doesn't want to be anywhere near what's coming.
Sir Percavelle Le Dic or Percy as he's more commonly called by those who know him well, hurries further into the common room, and goes around the large table to stand beside field commander Drubine.
Looking sideways at the nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic, Tamric Drubine sourly smiles before saying in a dry tone "Let me guess, you did something to him?".
The former paladin who is a member of the order of Saint Mar-che guffaws, and the young field commander dryly says "I take that as a yes".
As from just outside the inn, a loud roar is followed by a loud voice yelling "Where's that fucken knight cunt?!".
The front door of the inn then bursts open, the thick solid bar being no impediment to the kick it just received, as the shattered door goes flying off it's hinges.
Then an angry looking, well more angry looking than usual, Dorc da Orc ducks down and enters through the open door.
Once inside, the seven and a half foot tall, near eight hundred pound ork warleader stands up to his full height as he spots his arch rival the noble born knight from the kingdom of Druvic.
"You fucken dead ya cunt" growls the weaponsmith from the wolf tribe of orks as he points at Percy standing next to Tamric Drubine.
The big, burly ork who is originally from the southern polar region of the world, goes to take a hammer from the many on his weapon harness that's strapped all across his body.
But the large ork has to pause, and wipe his face as water runs down it from his bedraggled and drenched looking dreadlock topknot.
"Eeewwww gross" loudly mutters the ork warleader who is a general in the Armies of Farque.
While sir Percavelle Le Dic sniggers, and next to him, the young field commander who is in charge of the Fifth Army of Farque just rolls his eyes as he quickly, and correctly figures out what's happened.
Then as a growling Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name. Though not his full name, as that's way, way longer than that.
Stomps his way across the common room floor with murderous intent in his already crazed eyes, as he's finally taken a hammer from his weapon harness.
And sir Percavelle has quickly taken a hammer and pick axe from his belt and stepped back to give himself room.
Field commander Drubine after sourly smiling, says "Dorc calm down, and put that hammer away" quickly followed by "Percy put those weapons back, that's an order".
The nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic lifts a rather skeptical looking eyebrow, before he says "Er that's alright young Tam, I'll just keep a hold of them for now, wot".
As it's fairly obvious the warleader of the ork race has no intention of returning the hammer he's holding back to it's place on his weapon harness as he makes his way across the common room to the large table.
"Dorc cakl kar ogahar" says Tamric Drubine in orkish, a language few outside the ork race know. It's one of the advantages or depending on your point of view, disadvantages. The field commander had in growing up from a very young age, with Dorkindle for lack of better words, as one of his carer's. Who helped raise him.
The overall commander of the Fifth Army of Farque basically told the ork weaponsmith to stop it, more or less.
The actual literal translation being "Dorc cunt, don't, not". As the ork language tends to be both colourful and basic, almost blunt to a fault.
Seeing that the big, burly ork from the wolf tribe of orks isn't going to listen to the young field commander.
The noble originally from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, looks quickly at his lover the witch Saanea. To get her to cast something to stop the large ork in his tracks.
The attractive looking spellcaster from the Maldin Hills near the coast of the Southlands, doesn't have to as somebody else, or to be more precise, something else intervenes.
As he stomps his way across the common room towards the large table, on the other side of which stands his target sir Percavelle Le Dic.
Dorc da Orc who briefly contemplates throwing the hammer at the nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic. But thinks better of it. As he might hit Tamric Drubine. But more importantly, he wants to grab his arch rival and have the satisfaction of holding him in an unbreakable grip as he whacks him to a bloody pulp.
Spots something out of the corner of his eye as others scatter out of his way, as no way in hell they want to get in his way.
The large ork, who is the son of a former matriarch of his tribe, the wolf tribe. Tries to ignore it as he's pretty sure what it is. Infact the ork warleader knows exactly what it is, as he can clearly smell it.
A grimace appears on the feral looking face of the ork weaponsmith as something rather large, even bigger than him, moves in one of the corners of the common room.
Everybody looks that way, after a slight growl, followed by a few soft barks come from that corner of the common room.
Dorkindle who would like nothing better to do than continue on his way, grab his arch rival sir Percavelle Le Dic and beat him to a bloody death.
Comes to a stop and mutters "He not fucken here is he?". Before he repeatedly sniffs and looks around as he tries to locate someone.
The ork general in the Armies of Farque almost breathes a sigh of relief when he doesn't find who he was scenting for.
Instead the big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world, turns and looks at the massive form of one of the Farqian wardogs in the corner, which has stood up from where it was lying down, and is now looking directly at him.
The warleader of the ork race, who clearly smells it's one of the cold smelling wardogs, scowls then says in his native language to the figure sitting on the bench next to the massive canine that weighs twice as much as the large ork "Varn cakl".
"Varn cakl" replies the senior wardog handler Jessup, giving the traditional ork greeting back to Dorc da Orc. The traditional greeting being, hey cunt.
The undead being, who like Hammer the undead wardog beside him, clears his throat and tells Dorkindle in orkish that he best listen to field commander Drubine. Obviously what he says involved way more swearing than that.
And the ork weaponsmith gets the gist of it, and sourly smiles after Hammer softly barks at him, before the massive animal lies back down and yawns.
The large ork still has the sour look on his broad, green, brutish looking face as he returns the hammer he's holding back to his weapon harness.
Though only after sir Percavelle Le Dic returns his weapons back to his belt, when Tamric Drubine once again orders him to.
There's a brief moments silence in the common room, and just before Dorc da Orc goes to say something about how he's going to kill his arch rival.
The back door of the inn opens, and a figure walks into the common room from that direction. It's a woman. A rather large woman. Standing nearly six foot tall. Who one would almost say is obese. Though there's no denying it, she's definitely fat.
After the silence, the ork warleader bursts out laughing and points at the new arrival. "Ahahaha fucken look at you!" says the large ork as tears of laughter start to flow down his feral looking face.
Wiping his face, the ork general in the Armies of Farque after more laughter adds "Pretendy Zubu" . . . . . .

Soldier Of Gods 8.

Disputed Lands.

The runner looks around and in the early morning light just as dawn breaks on what feels like it's going to be a cold autumn day, he spots someone who can help him.
The young teen makes his way across the street, and when he gets to the edge of a house, he pauses as he doesn't want to disrupt the person he's found.
"Yes?" quietly asks Shur Kee the monk who hears and feels the presence of someone close by.
"Uh honoured councilor" says the runner in the Fifth Army of Farque, who continues with "I wonder if you could assist me" he briefly pauses, before adding "With something".
The short statured monk, who hails from the country of Wah Lee, which is on the other side of the world, on the far east coast of the continent.
Opens his eyes, and turns his head to look at the youngster, and quietly says "And what is this something?".
The runner winces, then says "It's the general" he pauses before adding "Warleader Dorc" quickly followed by "The field commander wishes to speak to him".
The monk, who is an acolyte in the order of Bru Li, a philosophical order based in his homeland of Wah Lee, refrains from smiling, before he says to the young teen "I assume he is asleep?" followed by "And difficult to awaken?".
"Yes honoured councilor" says the runner in the Armies of Farque, who breathes a sigh of relief when the honorary member of Lord Farque's personal council tells him "Lead the way".
Shur Kee the monk who had just finished his early morning exercises, and was starting to meditate before finding something for breakfast.
Gets up from the patch of grass, where he was kneeling, and makes his way to the runner, who is standing at the corner of the house to the left of where the short, statured monk was meditating.
They're in a town in the disputed lands between the city-states of Tuledare and Phamal. Technically it's unruled lands, but you can't tell that to the two warring nations.
This town is more towards the northern border of the city-state of Phamal, and is where field commander Tamric Drubine has set up base. Where he's conducting the war on behalf of the Phamalians who have hired the Fifth Army of Farque.
The honorary member of Lord Farque's personal council, who happens to be the living incarnation, or conduit of the Jade Warrior, Bru Li.
Follows the young runner, who makes his way across town, on this cold start to a clear and sunny autumn day.
Shur Kee clears his throat after thinking of something, then he asks the teenager "Friend Dorc, I mean the general is not near that barn is he?".
That is a relief, the acolyte in the order of Bru Li thinks to himself after the runner tells him "No honoured councilor".
"He's behind one of the inn's" continues the youngster who is in the second division, the scouts and rangers division of the Fifth Army of Farque.
The foreign born monk, who has now been in the Southlands longer than he was ever in his homeland, rolls his eyes and quietly says in a dry tone of voice "That sounds about right".
In response to the runner saying "I think he pretty much drank everything they had in that inn".
Soldiers, both black clad Farqian soldiers, and soldiers from the city-state of Phamal are up and about, heading to and fro here in town.
They make way for the honorary member of Lord Farque's personal council, who wears strange white clothing, and an even stranger looking conical shaped hat.
The runner leads the short statured monk around an inn, to the back courtyard. Shur Kee who could already hear the loud snoring from the street out front.
Just shakes his head when he catches sight of the large, green figure that's lying in the courtyard near the back door of the inn.
There's a couple of empty, not to mention broken barrels near the large ork lying prostrate on the ground. Infact he's lying on top of the broken remains of one.
And from what Shur Kee can see, it looks like someone from the inn has cleaned up even more broken barrels and bottles surrounding the ork warleader.
But they didn't want to get any closer, for the simple reason the big, burly ork fair reeks of alcohol, and the general permeating stink that he exudes.
The acolyte in the order of Bru Li, who is a physical adept, is glad that there's a slight breeze this cold morning, and that it's blowing away from him. So that he doesn't have to fully endure the pong that's emanating from the ork who is also a weaponsmith.
"Hmmm" murmurs councilor Kee who rubs his chin as he contemplates the problem of the sleeping ork warleader.
He glances at his staff he's carrying and quickly forgets about using that, as it'll certainly break. He then looks at what weapons the young runner has. Shur Kee instantly dismisses them, as the youngsters shortsword and dagger will be even more useless than his own staff.
The member of the personal council of Lord Farque then looks around the courtyard and the back of the inn for something to use, preferably something heavy.
The short, statured monk is just contemplating if there's anything inside the inn, while the runner stands nervously beside him, wondering how they'll wake the sleeping ork warleader.
When voices can be heard coming around from the side of the inn. The physical adept faintly smiles as he recognizes who it is.
"By the gods, would you look at that filthy demon" exclaims sir Percavelle Le Dic in an offensive tone of voice when he spots the big, burly ork who is his arch enemy.
Next to the large, heavily armoured knight, the cleric Beldane faintly similes and shakes his head.
"We should forget about the ugly green demon spawn" declares the nobel born former paladin, who then says "And tell young Tam that the stinking cesspit of a monster ran away like the cowardly jackanapes he is" the knight in the order of Saint Mar-che briefly pauses before he adds "Wot".
The cleric in the half plate armour standing next to the taller, heavily armoured knight rolls his eyes. While Shur Kee the monk just shakes his head.
Beldane who hails from the kingdom of Nastell looks at the short, statured monk and asks him '"Having trouble waking him up?".
After nodding his head, the honorary member of Lord Farque's personal council says "We are" followed by "I was just looking around for something to use" he then adds "There does not seem to be anything appropriate".
Sir Percavelle, a former Earl of Le Dic, which is located in his homeland of Druvic. Who would rather be anywhere else than near the ork warleader who is his mortal enemy. Well, he is in the mind of the former paladin.
Realizes he has an opportunity here that's way too good to pass up. The noble born knight who is around fifty years old. Not that you'd know it from looking at him. Clears his throat a couple of times to cover the chuckle that almost escapes.
Then sir Percavelle or Percy as everyone else in the group calls him, much to his chagrin, quickly says "I'll wake the filthy beast".
The nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic is wearing his full helm with the visor up, he quickly slaps it shut so Beldane the cleric and Shur Kee the monk are unable to see him grinning like a madman.
He walks to where the big, burly ork is lying fast asleep and snoring like crazy. As he does, the knight in the order of Saint Mar-che goes to take a weapon from his belt.
Seeing what weapon the tall knight in the full plate armour is going for, Shur Kee the monk quickly says "Friend Percy not that one" followed by "Maybe the actual hammer instead".
"Drats" mutters the former paladin who is of the opinion that the short, statured monk is far too smart and observant of some things than he ought not to be.
Sir Percavelle Le Dic let's go of the pick axe he was going to use. As he thought that weapon, straight to the closed eyes of the ork warleader would make a vast improvement to the ugly visage of the big, burly ork who is a general in the Armies of Farque.
Instead he takes one of his hammers from a loop on his belt, and the grin returns to his face under the faceplate of his full helm.
The nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic when he gets closer to the heavily snoring ork weaponsmith goes to chuckle, but instead gags, and almost dry retches.
"By Narille" mutters the former paladin invoking the god he worships "You stink beyond belief" adds the former Earl of Le Dic.
Then after taking a step closer as he holds his breath, sir Percavelle swings his hammer down as hard as he can, right onto the forehead of the sleeping ork warleader.
The large, heavily armoured knight hits the snoring general, a second, then a third time, directly in the forehead, as hard as possible.
Which would normally shatter and cave in the skull of anyone else. Not so the large ork. The only reaction of Dorc da Orc was a brief pause in his snoring. Which started back up after a snort.
And a lazy lifting of a hand in his sleep, in the direction of his forehead, like someone slowly trying to swat away a fly.
Sir Percavelle Le Dic sourly smiles, then looks over to where Shur Kee the monk and Beldane the cleric are standing with a runner in the Fifth Army of Farque.
The noble born knight who hails from the kingdom of Druvic just shrugs his heavily armoured shoulders as he looks at them.
The former paladin shakes his head in disgust, then as he looks at the ork warleader he mutters "You filthy beast from the pits of hell".
Then after returning his hammer to the loop on his belt, the knight in the order of Saint Mar-che looks around for something else that he can use to wake up his arch rival and enemy.
"Hmmm I wonder how we shall wake him?" says Shur Kee the monk when an annoyed looking sir Percavelle Le Dic wanders away after he's unable to wake the sleeping ork weaponsmith.
As the former paladin disappears around the other side of the inn, Beldane the cleric says in a skeptical tone of voice "I could cast something I guess".
Then as the powerful spellcaster originally from the kingdom of Nastell is thinking of something to cast that could actually wake the sleeping general. They hear sir Percavelle Le Dic exclaim in triumph.
The short, statured monk and the cleric in the half plate armour share a look at they wonder what the nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic is up to.
They don't have to wonder long, as the large, heavily armoured knight walks back around from the other side of the inn.
"Oh shit" quietly says Beldane the cleric, while next to him, Shur Kee the monk murmurs "Uh oh". The two of them wince. While the young runner is backing away, as he wants to get out of here as quickly as possible.
For sir Percavelle Le Dic, who has opened the visor of his full helm is grinning from ear to ear. As he's holding a bucket. A bucket full of water from the well he found on the other side of the inn. A bucket of water he then proceeds, with much glee, to throw at his arch rival and enemy, the sleeping ork warleader, Dorc da Orc . . . . . .

Soldier Of Gods 7.

Border Region.

Looking back over her right shoulder, Maiya Garney the lead scout spots sergeant Blufont take cover behind a tree trunk.
The lead scout looks ahead again towards the road that cuts through the trees her and her squad are in.
And after a few moments she spots what she has been hearing for the last little while. The scout Garney relaxes as it's a farmer with a horse drawn cart. Heading in the direction of the nearby town on this cool autumn morning just inside the southern border of the city-state of Tuledare.
Once the farmer and his cart has gone by the stretch of road that the lead scout has been observing. She gives the slight hand signal for all clear.
The lead scout in her company in the second division of the Fifth Army of Farque waits a little bit longer.
Then she gets up from where she's been crouching down behind some shrubs, and makes her way down to the forest road, and across it.
One by one, she's followed by her small squad, who have penetrated the southern border of the city-state of Tuledare.
What hand signals, the lead scout gives orders. And her squad disperses, heading north in the direction of the town that's nearby.
Maiya Garney sets off, with the company sergeant keeping pace with her, about twenty yards to her right through the trees.
The lead scout in the Armies of Farque is expecting a rendezvous with a spy in her Lord's army. As the sorcerer Carnid received a message during the middle of the night within his mind, saying to expect sometime this morning meeting a Farqian spy, now that they're over the border.
The scout Garney has no idea who it might be, or when the spy will show up. The only firm instructions Carnid the sorcerer received was to expect the meeting to be near the town that Maiya Garney and her squad are heading towards.
Looking ahead through the trees, the lead scout can't see any of her squad, she looks away to her right, and is just able to make out the company sergeant Blufont, who is keeping pace with her.
The lead scout who is her early twenties, is in enemy territory. Not that the Tuledarians know that she and the Fifth Army of her Lord have joined the war on the side of the city-state of Phamal. And that they're enemies.
Maiya Garney who hopes that the Tuledarians still don't know that one of her Lord's army has joined the war effort on behalf of the Phamalians.
Pauses for a moment behind a tree trunk, as she looks around and sees that sergeant Blufont has briefly paused too.
The lead scout is about to give him a brief hand signal to tell him something, when she almost exclaims in fright as she hears a voice quietly say to her "Scout Garney?".
Not trusting herself to answer out loud, the lead scout just nods her head in response to the woman's voice that spoke to her.
"Good" mutters the voice, which Maiya Garney realizes is speaking in the elven language.
"Apologies to two of your squad who I scared the shit out of thinking it was you" continues the woman's voice which comes just to the right of the scout Garney's head.
"He didn't give me a description of you" mutters the voice, which then continues with "This is where you're to go".
The voice, which from the lead scout's best guess, isn't magical, but is from someone or something that's right beside her. Then gives a brief, but thorough directions of where to go.
"Got that?" asks the woman's voice, which the Farqian soldier would describe as tiny, more than quiet.
"Got it" quietly says Maiya Garney the lead scout in the elven language with a nod of her head, she continues on with "I'll be there shortly".
"Good" mutters the voice, which after a few moments, the company scout in the second division of the Fifth Army of Farque realizes is gone.
The scout Garney looks away to her right, and spots sergeant Blufont looking in her direction. The company sergeant is frowning as he wonders why the lead scout has paused for so long.
Maiya Garney nods to him, and gives him the hand signal for him to follow closely behind her.
She then sets off through the woods, following the accurate directions that were just given to her by the disembodied voice.
A short while later and the squad has come to a stop and is spread out about twenty yards back from where the lead scout and the company sergeant are.
Maiya Garney looks back, and is proud she can't see a single one of her squad amongst the trees. She looks ahead again, and nods her head, and quietly says in the elven language "This is the spot".
In response to sergeant Blufont beside her quietly asking in the same language "Is this the spot we're supposed to be?".
The two of them are looking towards the town they were heading towards. They're at the treeline, and the town which is on the road that curves away to their right, is about eighty yards away across mostly open ground, which is dotted here and there with a few trees.
As they watch the town in the distance on what's a cool autumn morning here in the border region of the city-state of Tuledare.
The lead scout is just about to tell the company sergeant something when suddenly a quiet voice right next to them says in the elven language "Scout Garney, sergeant Blufont".
They both spin to their left, hands going for a weapon, then pause as they see the figure that has suddenly appeared beside them. A figure that they both recognize.
The lead scout who realizes that it's not just any spy they're meeting with, but THE spy in their Lord's armies, quickly and quietly says in elven "Highness" which is repeated by sergeant Blufont.
A faint buy wry smile briefly appears on the youthful looking face that they can just glimpse from under the hood of the tall figure in white.
"I prefer envoy, or councilor" quietly says Helbe the elven thief, who after looking closely at both the tall, young woman, and the short, stocky man about a decade older than her, gestures towards the nearby town.
"The local barracks is on the other side of town" quietly says the elven masterthief who is a member of Lord Farque's personal council. Not just any member, but the one many consider to be the most important.
As he also acts as the envoy for the lord and ruler of the Lands Farque when it comes to negotiations in hiring out any of armies of Farque to nations who are willing to pay for their services.
"Not many are there at the moment" quietly explains the young elf, who is a member of the Raendril royal family, who rule the island principality of Laerel.
"Most of them have gone out on patrol across the border now that they know a lot of their watchtowers and forts in the disputed lands have been hit" adds the young elven prince as the three of them look across the open ground to the nearby town.
"Do they know we've entered the war councilor?" quietly asks Maiya Garney who briefly met the elven envoy a number of years ago, when she was thirteen years old.
Infact it was the same day she met her Lord, as they and others came to her family's farm. Because of her younger brother Jovan. Who at that time, was soon to discover his magical abilities.
"Not as yet" replies the young elven noble who is reputed to be an extremely talented and skillful magic user.
"The longer it takes them to find out that the Phamalians have hired us, the better" adds councilor Raendril who negotiated the terms of the contract that saw the city-state of Phamal hire one of the armies of Farque.
"Yesterday the capital received word of the loss of a number of their forts and watchtowers" explains the elven princeling who follows that with "So they'll be reinforcing the barracks here, and in the other towns and villages along and near the border".
The lead scout and the company sergeant both nod to that, then the member of Lord Farque's personal council tells them "Probably be later today, maybe tonight they'll start showing up along the border".
The talented elven magic user gestures towards the sky, then he says "You probably would of noticed the increase in air ships going overhead last night and early this morning".
Both Maiya Garney and sergeant Blufont have, and councilor Raendril tells them "They're off to the disputed lands where they'll meet their demise at the hands of our fleet".
Prince Helbenthril Raendril glances around then quietly says "Gather your squad" followed by "There's something I need to show you".
As the company sergeant moves back into the woods to get the rest of the squad, the lead scout nods her head, and quietly says "Yes he has".
In response to the elven envoy asking her "I understand your younger brother has left your Lord's lands?".
The scout Garney who is not in the least surprised the council member knows of her younger brother Jovan, quietly says "I have no idea". In reply to him asking "Any idea where he went?".
"I just know that he headed north since leaving the homeland" says the lead scout who is essentially an officer in the Armies of Farque.
"My parents haven't received a letter from him in a couple of months" says Maiya Garney who follows that with "Last we heard he was somewhere in the Central Regions" she then silently adds, I hope he's not anywhere around here.
The figure in the white hooded cloak standing beside her nods, then he falls silent as sergeant Blufont makes his way back with the rest of the squad.
Once they gather around, the elven spellcaster crouches down, and the members of the squad in the Farqian Fifth Army's second division does likewise.
The young elven noble from the island principality of Laerel casts then quietly says "This is the town, and this here is the army barracks over on the east side".
On the ground is a three dimensional illusion spell, about three feet by three feet, showing the nearby town.
The lead scout Maiya Garney blinks in surprise as she notices something, then she asks the member of Lord Farque's personal council "Is that happening right now?".
"It is" is the answer from Helbe the elven thief with a slight smile upon his youthful looking face, he gestures and the illusion, which is infact a viewing spell, shows the nearby town from overhead, zooms in, and into the local army barracks, going inside the building.
"As you can see, there's only the eight of them in there at the moment since most of them have gone over the border to investigate the attacks upon their forts and watchtowers" says the grandson of the ruling prince of Laerel.
"Take care of them, as quickly and quietly as possible without the townsfolk knowing what happened" adds the young elven noble who follows that with "Make sure you get rid of their bodies without a trace, the more unexplained attacks and disappearances the better".
The member of Lord Farque's personal council continues with "The more mystery and uncertainty they endure, and the more chaos we perpetrate the better it is we can achieve a victory for the Phamalians".
Maiya Garney nods in understanding, then she quietly says "We'll go in as mercenaries looking to join the war effort".
"The simple and direct way is often the best" quietly says the elven princeling who is in agreement with the lead scout's plan.
The highly talented elven magic user then says "Once you've finished here, move quickly on to the next town to the east" followed by "I won't be able to help you out with what's over there, as I'll be going to be meeting with another squad in the area. But I can tell you the barracks there is a similar state to this one, so quickly get rid of them too".
Prince Helbenthril Raendril then tells them "The border region will soon get busy, so you'll move on after you take out the enemy in the next town over".
The member of Lord Farque's personal council looks at the lead scout and says "You know your orders, you're to move north further into the city-state and infiltrate their army" followed by "Try and get to the capital city to do that, you know what to do when you get there".
The young elven noble who is also a master assassin then quietly says "Myself or one of the other spies will get in contact with you in the city if there's any new orders".
"Yes councilor" says the scout Garney, who quickly points out a few things in the illusion spell, and makes the plan at how she and her small squad will deal with the enemy soldiers in the nearby town.
A little while later and Maiya Garney the lead scout and sergeant Blufont lead the squad out of the treeline and head towards the road that leads into the nearby town.
Amongst the trees, Helbe the elven thief watches them for a bit, then after glancing at Narladene the ground pixie who is perched upon his right shoulder, he says to her "Let's get out of here".
The elven princeling disappears as he first blurs himself, then he shifts away, heading westwards as he goes to meet up with another of the scout and rangers squads in the Fifth Army of Farque who have crossed over the border into the city-state of Tuledare . . . . . .
