To War 94.

Summer. The Province Of Moleau.

Thirty miles into the province of Moleau after crossing over the border from the province of Corlinda.
They come across the first decent sized town, almost a small city really.
Their army gives it a wide berth, and starts heading to the west of it. While some of them head into the city to see how things fare in this part of the province.
Lisell Maera the scout looks up, and sees a bird of prey pass overhead, winging it's way towards the large town. On what's a mild summer's day, temperature wise at least. In this area of southern Moleau.
"Saanea's?" quietly asks Lisell Maera the scout to the large, heavily armoured figure walking beside her.
"It is" says Arveem the undead heavy foot trooper who like the attractive young woman from the city-state of Brattonbury, is speaking in elven.
The two of them, along with Arveem's aide. The young teenager, and officer in training, Hamblin. Are walking along the road that approaches the small city from the south.
"Has he noticed anything?" quietly asks the scout Maera a little bit later as they get closer to the large town, that's walled.
The first truly walled place they've come across since entering the province of Moleau.
"Nothing interesting yet" is the reply of Arveem, referring to his brother Dargarven, who is already in the small city.
After he entered it, just before dawn this morning. And though it's still fairly early in the morning.
Dargarven has been in the large walled town for quite some time already.
"The spouter is over in the west of town" quietly adds the massive figure of the undead heavy foot trooper.
Lisell Maera or Lis as she's more commonly called by those who know her well.
Nods her head in understanding, knowing that one of the water elemental scouts is now inside of the small city.
Arveem glances down to his left, and slightly behind him, to where his aide is walking.
"Keep your eyes open, and listen carefully to things young Hamblin" quietly says the undead heavy foot trooper.
"Yes trooper" is the quiet reply of Hamblin the adjunct in training.
Then looking ahead, Arveem says in a slightly dry tone of voice "Looks like they've spotted us".
"I can't imagine why?" sarcastically says the scout who hails from the coast of the Southlands.
The city-state of Brattonbury to be exact, as she glances sideways at the massive figure walking between her and young Hamblin.
A chortle comes from behind the faceplate of Arveem's full helm.
Then he nods his head, when Lis quietly asks him "Think they'll let us in?".
"They should do" is the quiet reply of the nearly seven foot tall, more than three hundred pound, undead heavily armoured heavy foot trooper from the lands Farque.
Both Lisell and Hamblin have discarded their black summer cloaks, and their tabbards. On which in a lighter tone of black, is the Farque family crest.
As for Arveem, he doesn't wear the black cloak of the Farqian armies, nor the tabbard.
Infact none of the Farqian undead do. As they all essentially wear the armour and clothing they wore when they died four and half centuries ago.
Either the originals such as Arveem wears, or reproductions that are exact copies.
The massive figure of the undead heavy foot trooper then quietly continues with "We'll easily pass as mercenaries looking for hire".
"If you say so" murmurs the attractive young woman from Brattonbury, whose mother was a street prostitute, and whose father.
A man she never knew, or for that matter, met. Was a sailor who plied his trade upon the Great Western Ocean.
The undead heavy foot trooper just nods his full helmed head to that. Then he and the scout, and the teenage officer in training fall silent, as they join the line entering the walled town this morning.
The town, or more precisely, the small city. Is called Julmard.
The largest city in the south of the province of Moleau.
And as Arveem predicted, they gain entry fairly easily. As both the city guard, and the local noble who rules this city, are looking to hire mercenaries.
As most if not all of the local noble's garrison has gone south to fight alongside the other allies of the king and crown.
In the war against the lord of Salmah Forest, lord Gormica. The nobleman from the province of Karricaw, that the crown is at war with.
And a fair chunk of the city guard has joined the local garrison, and gone off to war down in the province of Corlinda.
Inside the walls of Julmard. Walls that don't exactly go right around the small city.
As Julmard is continually expanding northwards, and most of the wall is gone in that direction.
Or where it still stands on that side of the city, it's in the process of being torn down.
They find that although there's a war raging along the border region just thirty miles south of here.
The citizens of Julmard are going about their day to day tasks as if there's no war happening at all.
As the morning carries on, the undead heavy foot trooper, the scout, and the teenage officer in training.
Hear very little in the way about the war between the crown and lord Gormica of Salmah Forest.
The only time they actually do hear about it, or in this case see it. Is when they cross a square, and see a couple of wagons pull up next to a church.
In the wagons are wounded and injured, who have just returned this morning from the war with lord Gormica of Salmah Forest.
"That's odd" murmurs Arveem the undead heavy foot trooper as they stand at the corner of a building.
Watching across the square, the wounded and injured helped out of, and lifted out of the wagons, and taken into the church.
"What's odd?" quietly asks Lisell Maera.
"Why are they being taken into that church, and not their own garrison" quietly says the massive, heavily armoured heavy foot trooper, who died four and half centuries ago. Alongside his younger brother, and their lord.
During the invasion of the Southlands by the Holy Norstran Empire.
"I assume their garrison has got it's own infirmary" quietly adds Arveem who is speaking in elven.
"Good point" murmurs Lis, who after a brief pause, quietly adds "Out of sight, out of mind?".
Gesturing around at the relatively quiet square, the attractive young woman originally from the coastal city-state of Brattonbury says "This square and the surrounding streets, aren't exactly busy".
"We could go in and have a look" quietly says Hamblin the adjunct in training, with a nod of his head at the church across the square from them.
"You mean, you and the scout Maera could go in and have a look young Hamblin" dryly says Arveem, who continues in the dry tone with "I can't exactly go in".
The undead heavy foot trooper then adds in the same dry tone, after a brief pause "Unless you want me to go up like a candle, then burn to a crisp".
Lisell Maera winces at that, and Hamblin, the aide to Arveem has the decency to blush, and look embarrassed.
"Sorry trooper" quickly and quietly says the young teenager, who hails from the northwest of the lands Farque.
"Sometimes i forget" quietly adds the young officer in training, who has been assigned as the aide to the undead heavy foot trooper, Arveem.
"Not to worry young Hamblin, we all make mistakes" quietly says the undead being, who continues on with "Hell, truth to be told, sometimes even i forget that I'm not alive anymore".
Arveem then nods at those being helped into the church across the square, and he quietly says "We can probably find out more at the palace".
"Palace?" says Lis in a tone of surprise.
"That incorrigible brother of mine says the local lord's place looks like a palace" says the undead heavy foot trooper, who continues with "It's over on the west side of the city".
Arveem, who is communicating with his younger brother Dargarven, by way of the mindspeech of the undead.
Then says to the scout, and his aide "The spouter has just gone through the palace, and is making his way to Dargarven".
The undead being continues with "Might as well go over there, and see what's happening".
He nods his full helmed head at the church across the square, where the last of the injured are being helped inside, and he says "Maybe they can shed some light on why the returning wounded are being brought here, and not their own garrison".
A little while later and they're in the west of Julmard. And though the middle of the small city was busy when they went through it.
The western quarter of Julmard, predominantly residential. Is a lot more quiet in comparison to the middle of town.
They walk along tree lined streets, the trees offering shade for those who are out and about this summer's day.
Which is finally warming up after the cool start earlier at dawn.
As they walk beneath the leafy shade down one street, Arveem quietly tells Lis and Hamblin in the elven language "Around the corner up here to the right".
The undead heavy foot trooper leads them around the corner, then a bit along the street.
To a large tree, between a couple of houses. Beneath the tree, stands the younger brother of Arveem, Dargarven the undead scout.
When they reach the undead scout from the lands Farque. He gestures across the street, to a lane directly opposite the tree they're standing beneath.
Looking down the lane they get a clear view of the local lord's residence here in the city of Julmard.
"That's a palace alright" dryly says Arveem the heavy foot trooper as they can see much of the local lord's residence about sixty yards from where they're standing.
"Lord Dameér isn't lacking for anything, that's for sure" dryly says Dargarven who as they speak outloud, is also conversing with his brother via the mindspeech of the undead.
"That's for sure" quietly says Lisell Maera the scout, who after a slight pause, adds "I'm guessing he didn't go off to war with his army".
"You are correct scout" says Dargarven, who though stands just over six foot tall. He's dwarfed by his older brother Arveem.
"He's in residence at the moment" continues the undead scout, who wears a full helm upon his head. Even though he wears sleeveless, light leather armour.
Arveem slightly grunts at hearing that, then he tells his younger brother about what they saw in the south of the city.
Where the returning wounded were taken to a church, and not the local garrison. Which is located on the otherside of lord Dameér's residence here in the city of Julmard.
"Probably to keep them out of sight alright" says Dargarven, who then tells them what the water elemental scout, who has gone back inside the palace of the local lord.
Found out that the local lord and his lackeys are keeping the war pretty quiet here in Julmard.
As they've got the reports of the recent defeats the king's own, and the allies of the crown have suffered over the last week or so.
With battle after battle, lost to the forces fighting on the side of lord Gormica of Salmah Forest.
"They'll soon know about our force going through this part of the province" quietly says Arveem, referring to the part of the first army of Farque led by the young field commander, Tamric Drubine.
Which is passing by Julmard, less than half a dozen miles to the west of the small city, here in southern Moleau.
Dargarven nods, then asks his older brother the heavy foot trooper something by way of the mindspeech of the Farqian undead.
Arveem thinks about it for a moment or two, then outloud, in the elven language they're speaking, he quietly says "Maybe".
Then the towering figure of the undead heavy foot trooper looks down at his aide Hamblin, and the scout Lisell Maera.
"You two up for a bit of a tour of the place?" asks Arveem gesturing at the palace they can see at the other end of the lane across the street from them.
It's the attractive young woman from the city-state of Brattonbury who answers with "Might as well".
Nodding his full helmed head, Arveem says "Good" followed by "Let's go and pay this lord Dameér a visit" . . . . . .

To War 93.

Summer. The Province Of Corlinda.

In the early dawn light, Tovis the war engineer watches as the east gates of castle Measum are opened.
As they're swung open, he looks around and spots Dorc da Orc standing nearby in the shade of the east wall, chewing on something.
Hoping it's not a body part, Tovis the war engineer says to the large ork "Dorc, you go and bring it in".
The ork warleader looks at the young enginee thinks about for a moment, then grunts.
The large ork biffs away whatever it is he's been chewing on, and heads for the gates that are opening.
The big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world is followed by Teabagger the Goblin Cunt.
The commander of the goblin battalion hurries to keep pace with his general.
Who follows some of the local soldiers from here in the garrison of Measum castle out through the gates as the sun continues to come up over the horizon in the east.
Those defending the east wall of the large castle during the night. Were eventually successfully in pushing the enemy forces back.
The enemy, allies to the king and crown, mainly from the provinces of Mofosild, Olind and Moleau.
Finally retreated back down the hillside road to the east of the large castle that's the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
Those of the enemy that survived the nighttime battle along the east wall of castle Measum.
Have now made their way back around to the west side of the large castle, where the bulk of their army is located.
As for those who defended the east side of castle Measum during the night.
More than half of the seventy or so of them who were up on the east wall parapet last night, are dead or injured.
Including half of the goblins who were fighting during the night along this side of the largest castle in all of southern Melaurn.
But the majority of the fatalities and injuries of the defenders, were the local soldiers from here in the castle garrison.
As the sound of retching, and vomiting can be heard when some of the local soldiers get to the enemy's battering ram.
Not to mention the growling and cackling laughter from Dorc da Orc who then yells at them to get out of the way.
Tovis the war engineer quietly says "Think they'll try this again?" followed by "Over here, on this side of the castle?".
Looking at those with him, the young engineer from the kingdom of Druvic nods his head, when Heinë the sorceress tells him "Probably" followed by "Even though they lost quite a few over here during the night".
"I concur with this witchy woman, wot" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic in his overly loud, and boisterous voice.
The attractive looking spellcaster in the first army of Farque sourly smiles at that description of her from the former paladin.
And though the Farqian sorceress can be highly temperamental at times. She keeps her mouth shut and doesn't say anything in response to the large, heavily armoured knight.
"These foul villains are bound to try again" adds the nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic, who follows that with a "Wot".
"I agree with friend Percy and the sorceress Heinë" says Shur Kee the monk who is standing beside the nobleborn knight, who is now scowling as he looks out the open gates, and sees what his bitter rival, Dorc da Orc is doing.
The war engineer, who is a captain in the armies of Farque, and the commander of the engineering corp in the first army of Farque.
Nods in agreement with the short, statured monk, then he slightly grimaces as he watches what's happening outside the east gates of castle Measum.
As some of the local soldiers from the castle garrison move off to kill any of the enemy who are wounded or injured, who are still out infront of the east wall of the large castle.
Dorc da Orc with a bit of grunting, and a lot of swearing, picks up the battering ram the enemy used during the night.
The heavy wooden log, that's sharpened to a point, and fire hardened at one end.
And takes at least a dozen soldiers to pick up, more to wield with any sort of accuracy.
The big, burly ork from the frozen bottom of the world carries the battering ram in through the gates, and into the castle.
A battering ram he took a shit on twice last night, and pissed on at least half a dozen times from the top of the wall during the nighttime battle.
A battering ram that's absolutely filthy with his faeces, and urine. And stinks beyond belief.
Though which the enemy tried to use numerous times throughout the battle during the night.
"Not here Dorc!" shouts Tovis the war engineer as the ork weaponsmith heads this way with the battering ram, which reeks worse than the ork warleader himself.
"Over there" adds the captain in the armies of Farque who nods away to the side, then continues with "Where those locals are".
A group of castle folk are waiting off to one side, where they'll set the enemy battering ram on fire.
The first thought to do with it once it was retrieved, was to chop the log up, and use it for firewood.
Now it's best to just burn it, as it's far to filthy to use as firewood thanks to the large ork shitting and pissing on it during the night.
The warleader of the ork race grunts, then he heads off to the open ground behind the keep where some of the locals are waiting.
"I say, Tovis old chap" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic after shaking his head as he watches his bitter rival, the weaponsmith from the wolf tribe of orks.
"What shall we do now?" adds the former paladin who follows that with "Mount an attack upon their army?" he briefly pauses before adding "Wot".
"Nope" is the reply of the young engineer, who like the nobleborn knight, hails from the kingdom of Druvic.
"Remember we're to keep them occupied here" continues the war engineer, who previously served in the army of a baron Harkonin, in the east of his homeland, Druvic.
"So they don't go further south into the province, or over into Karricaw" adds Tovis, as the first army of Farque has been hired by the Karricawian nobleman, lord Gormica.
Who finds himself at war against the crown and king of Melaurn.
The former earl of Lé Dic, which is his family's fief in the east of the kingdom of Druvic, grunts when he hears that.
Then he, Tovis, Shur Kee and Heinë, all turn and look to the west, as in the distance across the large castle, they hear the trebuchets firing in the first light of the morning.
"I guess they're making a dawn attack upon the west wall" says the war engineer, who is in command of the defence of castle Measum.
They can't actually see to that side of the castle as the keep is in the way.
But further along the east wall, at the northern end, where the west side of the castle can be seen, a goblin soldier in the Farqian mercenary army calls out "They're advancing on the west wall!".
"Can you get us all over there?" asks Tovis the war engineer with a look directed at the sorceress who is a subaltern in the armies of Farque.
The young engineer from the kingdom of Druvic, indicates Dorc da Orc and Teabagger the Goblin Cunt as well, as they're walking back this way.
"Not all" is the reply of the dark haired, attractive young woman from the lands Farque.
"Too heavy" adds the sorceress who has switched to the elven language.
"Just me, you, the general and the goblin commander then" says the captain in the armies of Farque who has also switched to the elven language.
"I should be able to" says Heinë the sorceress in response to the commander of the engineering corp in the first army of Farque.
Tovis nods in understanding, then says in common to Shur Kee and sir Percavelle Lé Dic "Meet us over on the west wall".
Both the heavily armoured knight, and the short statured monk nod in understanding.
And the two of them move off, heading west through the largest castle in all of the south of the kingdom of Melaurn.
After Tovis gives a few orders to the captain of the castle guard Domall, who he wants over on the west wall of the castle once he's finished up with things here on the east side of the castle Measum.
The young engineer from the kingdom of Druvic, along with the large ork from the southern polar region of the world.
And the small, bright lurid green goblin who is from the northern province of Sorros, here in the kingdom of Melaurn.
And the Farqian spellcaster all disappear as the attractive sorceress teleports them away to the west side of the large castle, that's the ancestral home of the Measum family.
On top of the west wall of the castle, Dorc da Orc looks back eastwards, and chuckles when he spots his bitter rival sir Percavelle Le Dic walking around the main keep in the company of Shur Kee the monk.
The two of them have to walk through the town before they're able to cross the large open ground to the west wall of castle Measum.
The ork warleader then grunts as Tovis looks his way, and the war engineer says "Keep up Dorc".
As the commander of the engineering corp in the first army of Farque is heading to above the gates here on the west wall of the large castle.
The ork weaponsmith, along with the goblin commander Teabagger, follow after the young engineer and the sorceress Heinë.
As one of the trebuchets launches another load, this one a boulder.
Tovis the war engineer watches the enemy army, who are once again advancing upon the west side of castle Measum.
"They're hell bent on taking the castle, aren't they" quietly says the subcommander of the engineering corp.
The Druvician war engineer nods to that, then glances at Heinë, and asks the sorceress "Any idea why?".
"One of their commanders or senior officers will have to get close for me to find out" says the attractive looking spellcaster with the long, dark hair.
"Reading minds isn't exactly my specialty" dryly adds the sorceress from the lands Farque.
Tovis nods, then turns and looks at Dorc da Orc who has just joined them above the gates here on the west wall parapet, who has just said "Let the fuckers get close, then fucken capture one of the cunt officers they got".
The war engineer in command of the defence of the large castle that's the ancestral home of lord Measum's family, thinks about it for a moment, then says "Good idea".
Looking at his subcommander, and some of his other officers, captain Tovis says "Let them get close to the moat" followed by "And tell the archers not to pick off so many of their officers".
As his orders are followed, the young engineer originally from the kingdom of Druvic watches the enemy army, loyal to the crown and king of Melaurn, advancing upon castle Measum in the early morning light, of a relatively cool start to another summer's day here in province of Corlinda.
Relative being a subjective word to say the least, as it's still far too warm to the liking of the ork general, Dorc da Orc.
"Can you get one from just across the moat there?" quietly asks the war engineer in the elven language to the spellcaster beside him.
As he knows that a practitioner of magic has to be in touching distance with someone if they want to teleport them.
"Not by teleporting" is the reply from Heinë the sorceress in the same language.
"Though there's something else i can try that might work" continues the attractive looking young woman who is fairly powerful spellcaster.
The eyebrows of the war engineer lift up in surprise when he hears that, but he doesn't question her anymore about it.
Instead the commander of the engineering corp of the first army of Farque switches to the common language, and asks the ork warleader "What do you think they'll do this morning Dorc?".
The son of the previous matriarch of the wolf tribe of orks grunts, then says "Attack along most of the fucken wall, like they did yesterday".
The large ork as usual pronounces the word yesterday, as yes-turd-ay.
The big, burly ork from the frozen bottom of the world then loudly murmurs "Hmmmm".
And he points to the north flank of the advancing enemy army, and says "More of fucken cunts that way, than they had before".
The captain in the armies of Farque nods, then as the nearby ballista shoots off a ten foot longspear, Tovis asks the ork warleader "Think they're going to go for the tower at that end of the wall?".
"Fucken maybe" says Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name.
"Fucken looks like it" adds the ork weaponsmith.
Who then looks down at Teabagger the Goblin Cunt, and says "Come on cunt, let's go".
The large ork, and the small, bright green goblin walk away, heading along the parapet of the long west wall of castle Measum, heading for the tower at the northwest corner of the large castle.
Meanwhile Tovis the war engineer along with Heinë the sorceress remain above the gates, waiting for the enemy to get to the moat that runs along the west side of castle Measum.
As the attractive sorceress will attempt to capture an enemy officer who gets close to the largest castle to be found throughout southern Melaurn . . . . . .

To War 92.

Summer. The Kingdom Of Melaurn.

The allies to the king and crown of Melaurn attacking the east wall of castle Measum change tactics later in the evening.
When previously they concentrated their attack upon the southern half of the east wall, and the gates in the middle of the wall.
They're now more spread out, attacking along the entire length of the east wall of the large castle.
And granted, the east wall of castle Measum isn't particularly long. It's still long enough, that those few defending it, are stretched thin as they continue to repel the enemy who have come down from the province of Moleau, into northern Corlinda.
The enemy on this side of the large castle that's the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
Have got their battering ram to the gates, and even hit the gates a number of times.
Now the the heavy wooden long, with a sharpened fire harden point at one end.
Lies on the road, right infront of the east wall gates of the largest castle in all of southern Melaurn.
Lying around it, and under it in one instance. Are the dead and injured enemy soldiers who eventually got the battering ram to the gates.
Sir Percavelle Lé Dic quickly suggested that they drop a leather sack of naphtha down on it, and set it alight.
Thinking that even his bitter rival Dorc da Orc would probably like that idea.
As he's learnt over the years that the large ork likes setting things and people on fire.
But the ork warleader, and Shur Kee the monk put a stop to that idea.
For setting the battering ram on fire, as it lies right up against the gates. Would certainly set the gates on fire too. Something they definitely want to avoid. As they'll be doing the enemy's work for them.
Besides the ork general is of the opinion the battering ram where it lies at the moment.
Is the perfect thing to draw as many of the enemy to one spot.
Which is what's happening now. Though the rest of the enemy, who are mainly from the provinces of Mofosild, Moleau and Olind.
Are spreading out way more than what they've have been doing earlier in the night, in their attack upon the east wall of castle Measum.
Scaling ladders are being carried, and put up along both the southern and northern half of the large castle's east wall.
Making the job of the already hard pressed defenders on the parapet, that much more difficult as the night wears on, here in the northeast of the province of Corlinda. In the area of the province the locals call, The Corlinda Corner.
As he watches a number of the enemy soldiers getting ready to run forward along the narrow road, to get the battering ram that's on the ground right infront of the gates on this side of the large castle.
Dorc da Orc out of the corner of his left eye, sees another scaling ladder go up against the northern half of the east wall of castle Measum.
The large ork turns to the handful of goblin soldiers here above the gates with him.
"You Cuntface" says Dorc da Orc pointing at one of the goblins.
"And you two as well" adds the ork warleader pointing at two more of the goblins.
The ork weaponsmith gestures along the parapet, to the left of them, and says "You three cunts go and help them that fucken way".
"Yes general" say the trio of goblins the large ork has indicated.
The big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world, grunts as they hurry away to help those defending the northern half of the east wall of the large castle that's been the home to the Measum family for centuries.
The large ork who is a general in the armies of Farque looks around and spots his bitter rival, sir Percavelle Lé Dic standing nearby.
Like the warleader of the ork race, the nobleborn knight from the kingdom of Druvic.
Is the only other one on the parapet of the east wall of castle Measum thud, not to get behind a merlon, or to crouch behind cover.
"Cunt" growls the ork warleader at his bitter rival, the nobleborn knight from the kingdom of Druvic.
With a sour look upon his face, sir Percavelle Lé Dic looks at the large ork, and says "What you filthy beast?".
The weaponsmith from the wolf tribe of orks waves a big, meaty, skillet sized hand in the direction the trio of goblins he sent along the parapet, and says "Go with them cunts" followed by "They gonna fucken need help".
The large heavily armoured knight looks in the direction the three goblins are going.
He thinks about it for a moment, then without saying another word to his bitter rival, the ork general.
The former paladin heads after the trio of goblins, following them along the northern half of the east wall of castle Measum.
"Fall off the fucken wall ya cunt" Dorc da Orc mutters to himself as his bitter rival the nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic walks away.
"Get shot in the eye, you disgusting smelling animal" sir Percavelle Lé Dic murmurs to himself as he walks along the parapet.
The former earl of Lé Dic, which is his family's fief in the east of his homeland, the kingdom of Druvic.
Slaps close the visor of his full helm as he walks along the northern half of the east wall of the large castle.
While Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name, goes back to watching the enemy. And sees a bunch of them come running down the narrow road towards the gates, and their battering ram.
As the nearby small catapult here upon the top of the east wall of castle Measum flings a basket full of rocks at the enemy.
The son of the previous matriarch of the wolf tribe of orks. His mother, who he killed in a fight. Which was only fair, as she was doing her best to kill him at the time.
Is standing next to a pile of rocks and bits of masonry used by the defenders to drop upon the enemy who get to the east wall of the large castle that's the ancestral home of the local lord here in The Corlinda Corner, lord Measum.
He picks up a fairly decent sized rock, and as an enemy soldier goes down down an arrow shot by the local archer next to the merlon to the large ork's right.
The big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world biffs the rock he's picked up.
One of the enemy soldiers, who are allies to the king and crown of Melaurn.
Head shatters apart, when the rock thrown by the ork warleader hits him square in the face.
As the body hits the ground, and the enemy soldier directly behind him, trips over the headless body.
The ork warleader who is a general in the armies of Farque, picks up another rock from the pile he's next to, and looks for another of the enemy soldiers to throw it at.
Sir Percavelle Lé Dic or Percy as he's more commonly called by those who him well.
Sees that two of the goblins he's following, stop and help another two goblins who are trying to push the top of a scaling ladder away from the forty foot tall east wall of castle Measum.
While the third goblin hurries along the parapet, where a lone soldier from the local garrison here in the large castle.
Has just shoved an enemy soldier off the top of the wall, where he's just climbed another scaling ladder that's up against the east wall of castle Measum.
"There you go chaps" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic who grabs the end of one of the two polearms the four goblins are using to shove away the scaling ladder.
And gives a good push of it, as he doesn't even stop, as he walks by, behind them.
The goblins shout and yell in their own language, as the extra push from the nobleborn knight is enough to get the top of the scaling ladder moving.
Giving it enough momentum to slowly start moving away from the face of the forty foot tall wall, as a pair of enemy soldiers are climbing it.
Meanwhile the heavily armoured knight, who is a member of the order of The Knights of Saint Mar-che.
Takes his pick hammer from his waist belt, as he sees another of the enemy has topped the wall, followed by another.
Setting upon the lone soldier from the local garrison here in castle Measum who is trying to push that particular scaling ladder away from the east wall of the large castle.
The other goblin that Percy is following runs at the two enemy soldiers, who serve in the army of a nobleman from the province of Olind.
The goblin being a goblin, trips as he runs. He goes tumbling along the parapet. To crash into the legs of one of the enemy soldiers, who have just cut down the local soldier.
Just as a third soldier from the province of Olind gets to the top of the scaling ladder, and jumps down onto the parapet.
The soldier the goblin crashed into, swears and yells as he tries to get up.
And the goblin, who is half dazed, tries to stand up as well. The two other soldiers from the province of Olind go to attack the prone goblin.
Before they're able to, the former paladin is upon them.
"Take that" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic as he swings his weapon, with the pick side of the hammer head, slamming down into the top of the head of one of the enemy soldiers.
With his left gauntleted hand, the large heavily armoured knight grabs the blade of the other enemy soldier's sword.
And shoves it into the guts of the third one, who has just got to his feet after being knocked down by the goblin who tripped over.
Then the former earl of Lé Dic rips the pick hammer out of the top of the enemy soldier's skull he's just killed.
And as that body drops to the parapet. The large heavily armoured knight swings his weapon to the left.
The hammer side of the head, smashes into the face of the enemy soldier. Who is standing there, in disbelief, holding his own sword, that's in the guts of his fellow soldier. Who has a look of pain and astonishment upon his face.
The side of the enemy soldier's head shatters apart, tearing off half of his face in the process.
He drops dead to the parapet, and the remaining soldier is left standing, there, still with a shortsword in his stomach.
He doesn't stand for long, as he groans and drops to his knees, before falling over onto to his side.
"Take that you villain" declares sir Percavelle Lé Dic as he kicks the enemy soldier who has just fallen down, into the side of the head, with a steel boot. Killing the man from the province of Olind instantly.
"Come on you little green fellow, up you get" says the nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic, who helps the goblin to his feet.
"Thanks sir knight" says the half dazed goblin, who then nods when the former paladin nods his full helm away to their left, where a polearm lies, and tells him "Be a good chap and get that, wot".
Then the member of the order of the Knights of Sanit Mar-che turns and with his right gauntleted hand after tossing his pick hammer to his left hand.
Punches an enemy soldier right in the face after he pops his head up over the top of the wall.
The enemy soldier howls in pain, and clutches at his bloody and shattered face, before falling backwards off the scaling ladder he's just climbed to the top of.
As he falls, he knocks off the next soldier from the province of Olind who is climbing the scaling ladder.
And the two of them, before they hit the ground one after the other. Barely miss the third soldier serving in a nobleman's army who is loyal to the king and crown of Melaurn, who has just started climbing the scaling ladder.
"Good chap" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic, who does have to hop back, as the goblin swings around the polearm he's just picked up.
The former paladin grabs it before the goblin soldier can accidentally hit him.
Then the Druvician nobleman, and the still half dazed goblin soldier serving in the armies of Farque.
Use the polearm to start pushing the top of the scaling ladder away from the east wall of castle Measum.
On what's a relatively cool summer night, here in the northeast of the province of Corlinda. In the area of the province the locals call The Corlinda Corner.
After a biffing another rock at the enemy running along the narrow road towards the east gates of the large castle, that's been the home to the Measum family for generations.
Dorc da Orc scowls as he sees a number of them have made it to the battering ram, and are trying to lift it up.
At the moment there's not enough for them to do so. But it won't be long before they'll be able to pick it up and use it upon the gates, here on the east wall of the largest castle in all of southern Melaurn.
Dorkindle picks up an arm full of rocks and broken bits of masonry. And drops it over the side of the wall. Raining it down upon some of those trying to lift up the battering ram.
One is killed instantly, while two others are fatally injured by the falling rocks. And one other drops to the ground with a shattered shoulder.
And tries to crawl away, until a crossbow bolt shot by a local soldier from the garrison here in castle Measum, slams into the small of his back.
"Hmmmm" murmurs the ork warleader as more of the enemy rush to get the battering ram, to try and pick it up, and use it on the gates.
Then a wide grin suddenly appears on the broad, green, brutish looking face of the ork warleader as he thinks of something.
"Get some" says the ork weaponsmith who chuckles to himself.
Before he turns around, drops his pants, then hops up onto the wall between the two merlons above the gates here in the east wall of castle Measum.
He scoots his ass backward and out over the edge of the wall, and because he's an ork, and it comes rather easily to him, he proceeds to take a shit. A long, wet, splattering shit. Which is fairly typical for the large ork.
As the brown rain falls upon some of those trying to pick up the battering ram, and of course on the battering ram as well.
The big, burly ork from the frozen bottom of the world is cracking up laughing as he continues to shit.
The ork general doesn't even stop shitting when an enemy arrow thuds into his back, which he barely feels.
He's too busy taking a crap on those below, who are throwing up from the putrid excrement that falls upon them. Those not throwing up, are running away. Getting clear of the disgusting smelling shit that's falling upon the battering ram infront of the gates in the east wall of castle Measum.

To War 91.

Summer. Castle Measum.

Shur Kee the monk along with Teabagger the Goblin Cunt. And another goblin soldier, who the short, statured monk thinks is called Numbnuts or Dumbnuts something. He's not too sure, as a lot of the goblins names can get confusing.
Use a polearm to push a scaling ladder away from the east wall of castle Measum. Which is under attack this night.
"Get down councilor" says Teabagger the Goblin Cunt, who along with Numbnuts the Third, pull the physical adept down and out of the way.
Just before an enemy arrow strikes the merlon to their right.
"Thank you friends" says Shur Kee the monk as he crouches beside the two goblins. Here on the southern half of the east wall of the large castle that's the ancestral home of lord Measum.
Beyond the next merlon, a Farqian scout draws back her bow, and lets the arrow to it fly.
The shaft slams into the enemy archer up the left side of the cutting, that took a pot shot at the distinctive figure in the white clothing, wearing an odd conical shaped hat upon his head.
Teabagger, who is the commander of the goblin battalion in the first army of Farque.
Winces as Numbnuts mutters something to him in the goblin language.
Before crawling over to their left to retrieve the polearm that they dropped.
"What was that he said?" quietly asks the short, statured monk who is from the far east coast of the continent, as he nods at Numbnuts who is getting the fallen polearm.
"Er, it's a bit difficult to translate councilor" is the evasive reply from the goblin commander.
Teabagger doesn't want to explain that Numbnuts said that if councilor Kee gets himself killed in battle.
The big boss, that being lord Farque will probably get angry and kill everyone in the battalion if the honorary member of his personal council dies while he's with them.
Teabagger doesn't know if that's true, but he doesn't want to find out. So that's why he's keeping close to the enigmatic physical adept.
As the enemy, allies to the king and crown of Melaurn, predominantly from the provinces of Olind, Mofosild and Moleau.
Continue to attack the east wall of the largest castle to be found in the south of the kingdom of Melaurn.
The member of the philosophical order of Bru Li pops his head up, and looks down.
So does Teabagger beside him, as Numbnuts with polearm in hand rejoins them.
Down below, a few of the enemy are trying to pick up their scaling ladder, while another is screaming in pain. With broken legs by the looks of it, as he was on the ladder when the human monk and the two goblins pushed it clear.
While another enemy soldier is limping away. He doesn't get far, as a crossbow bolt shot from the weapon of one of the local soldiers in the castle garrison, smashes into the back of his head, shattering apart a fair chunk of it.
"Looks like the fucking bastards are going to try again" quietly says Teabagger in the goblin language.
"Figures" mutters Numbnuts the Third in the same language.
Then as Numbnuts slides the polearm along so that the goblin commander is holding it too.
Teabagger the Goblin Cunt in the common language says "I think they're going to try again councilor".
The physical adept, who is originally from beyond the Southlands, the kingdom of Wah Lee, on the far east coast of the continent.
Nods in agreement with the small, bright lurid green goblin, who is from here in the kingdom of Melaurn, the northern province of Sorros to be exact.
"I think you are correct friend" says Shur Kee, who along with the two goblins look to their left along the parapet as a familiar voice says "Out the way cunts".
The monk and the two goblin soldiers in the Farqian mercenary army scramble out of the way as Dorc da Orc walks directly towards them.
The large ork who is a general in the armies of Farque is carrying a big rock. Which would be called a small boulder if anyone else tried to pick up, let alone carry it like he is.
"Fuckheads" mutters Dorc da Orc as he gets between the merlons where Shur Kee, Teabagger and Numbnuts have been, and he looks down at the enemy below, who are trying to lift their scaling ladder up.
The ork weaponsmith, with his tongue sticking out of one corner of his mouth, closes one eye as he looks down.
Ignores an enemy arrow that bounces off his forehead. Lifts up what is definitely a small boulder. And drops down at the enemy at the base of the wall forty feet below.
Shur Kee the monk winces as he hears a loud crashing sound, followed by screams and shouts.
Followed by the ork warleader bursting into laughter, before he wanders away, heading back along the parapet. In the direction he came from.
"Well, they're not using that again, that's for sure" dryly says the goblin commander Teabagger, when he pops his head up, and looks directly down at the enemy below.
Shur Kee and Numbnuts the Third do so as well, and they see that the scaling ladder has been shattered to bits.
While beneath the small boulder is the squashed figure of a dead enemy soldier.
While another one, has a leg pinned beneath the small boulder. He's the one screaming loudly in pain.
The small basket catapult launches a leather sack. Sending it flying over a hundred feet.
Until it hits some of those on the narrow road rushing towards the east gates of castle Measum.
The leather sack rips apart on impact, and it's contents splatter everywhere.
As it does, a black clad Farqian ranger. Who has a fire arrow to his longbow, draws it back, takes aim, and lets the arrow fly.
There's a whooshing sound as the naphtha catches fire when the fire arrow hits it.
And those of the enemy who got hit by the splattered naphtha, go up in flames.
Sir Percavelle Lé Dic looks out from the east wall of the large castle. And sees a handful of the enemy soldiers on the narrow road just outside the cutting, on this side, go up in flames.
While a few others close by, catch on fire too. And like many when they catch on fire, they start running in a panic.
The heavily armoured knight shakes his full helmed head, and sourly smiles behind the visor of his full helm.
When he hears his bitter rival Dorc da Orc, somewhere further down the parapet, burst into laughter again, then shout out "Look at 'em dumb cunts running around getting burned up!".
The nobleman from the kingdom of Druvic, then goes back to what he was doing before the small catapult launched the sack of naphtha.
"Easy does it you little green fellows" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic to the pair of goblin soldiers with him, here above the gates in the east wall of castle Measum.
The three of them are lifting up a metal basket full of rocks and broken bits of masonry.
The former paladin grunts with effort, and they tip the contents of the metal basket over the top of the wall, between a pair of merlons.
Rocks and broken masonry shower down upon the enemy soldiers at the gates.
Braking bones and skulls, knocking some out, and injuring others. Those able to flee, hurry back, and away from the gates.
Leaving behind a few dead bodies, and even more injured. Many of whom are either groaning, or screaming in pain.
"Easy there little chap" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic or Percy as he's more commonly called by those who know him well.
The nobleborn knight from the kingdom of Druvic, has grabbed one of the goblins.
Who was about to go over the side of the wall, when they tipped the contents of the metal basket on the enemy who were at the gates.
"Thank you sir knight" says the goblin when the large, heavily armoured knight sets him back down.
"No worries, fella" says the former earl of Lé Dic, which is his family's fief in the east of his homeland, the kingdom of Druvic.
The two goblins hurry away with the metal basket to the nearest pile of rocks and masonry debris, here on the parapet of the east wall of the large castle, that's the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
They're replaced by two more goblins, who have already filled up the metal basket they have between them.
The former paladin, who isn't actually part of the armies of Farque. Though he is part of the group that travels with lord Farque.
With the aid of the burning bodies out on the narrow road. Can see a bit more into the cutting on the hill, on this side of castle Measum.
And as more of the enemy soldiers, predominantly from the provinces of Mofosild, Moleau and Olind.
Continue towards the largest castle in all of southern Melaurn.
He spots some riders have made it into the cutting, and between the eight or ten of them.
The member of the order of The Knights of Sanit Mar-che sees what they're carrying.
"Battering ram!" calls out sir Percavelle Lé Dic to the other defenders along the top of the east wall of castle Measum this night.
As he walks along the parapet, enjoying the smell of the burning bodies on the narrow road, about a hundred feet out from the wall.
Dorc da Orc scowls as he hears his bitter rival, sir Percavelle Lé Dic call out "Battering ram!".
The large ork, stops and looks out at the narrow road, then into the cutting at the top of the hill.
The ork warleader who is a general in the armies of Farque grunts as he sees the enemy have brought up a battering ram.
"Fucknuts" mutters Dorc da Orc who takes a longspear from across his back, as the enemy start brining the battering ram through the cutting at the top of the hill.
Enemy soldiers, about twenty of them, take the wooden log with the pointed end.
Off the riders who have brought it up the narrow road, that comes up the hill, and leads directly to the east gates of the large castle that's the ancestral home of lord Measum's family.
"Shoot them fuckers!" roars out the ork general, pointing at the enemy soldiers who are now carrying the battering ram along the road.
Arrows and bolts go flying from those with bows and crossbows on top of the east wall of castle Measum.
Which start hitting the enemy soldiers carrying the battering ram.
As they go down, dropping the battering ram. Others take their place, and pick up the battering ram.
And continue to bring it forward along the narrow road towards the east gates of the large castle.
Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name, throws the longspear. Which slams into one of the enemy soldiers at the front carrying the battering ram.
He's flung backwards into the soldier immediately behind him. And the battering ram is dropped to the ground again.
And though others are hit by arrows and bolts. The enemy soldiers, allies to the crown and king of Melaurn. Pick up the battering ram, and continue with it towards the gates on this side of castle Measum.
As another scaling ladder hits up against the east wall of the large castle.
The ork warleader grunts after he throws another spear, taking out the enemy soldier at the front of those carrying the battering ram on the left side.
As the battering ram is dropped again, and others rush in to help pick it up.
Dorc da Orc knows it will continue it's stop, start progress along the narrow road until it eventually gets to the gates in the east wall of the large castle.
"Come on ya cunts" mutters Dorkindle, who continues with "Come and get some".
As they go to push away the top of the scaling ladder away with the polearm.
Teabagger the Goblin Cunt says "That battering ram is getting closer".
Next to him, Numbnuts the Third grunts in agreement.
"There is nothing the three of us can do about it at the moment" says Shur Kee the monk, followed by "We have things to do here".
Both Teabagger and Numbnuts nod in agreement with that. Then they along with honorary member of lord Farque's personal council push away the scaling ladder that the enemy has just put up against the east wall of castle Measum.
On this relatively cool summer night, here in The Corlinda Corner in the south of the kingdom of Melaurn . . . . . .

To War 90.

Summer. The Corlinda Corner.

Leading up to the east gates of castle Measum is a narrow road, a trail really.
That goes through a cutting on it's way towards the large castle that's the ancestral home of lord Measum.
The cutting is at the top of the hill, and the narrow road comes up it, while it can be seen in the distance, heading away from the large castle, to the south and east.
The road is out of view a lot of the way up the hill, as twists and turns. Going through a number of switchbacks before reaching the cutting, which is just a hundred and fifty or so feet from the east gates of castle Measum.
The east wall of the large castle, is the tallest at over forty foot in height.
But lengthwise, it's by far the shortest of the castle's walls. Not even reaching a fifth of the length of the long west wall of the ancestral home of the Measum family.
On the east wall of the large castle, is a small group of local soldiers, led by their guard captain, Domall.
With them is a handful of black clad Farqian soldiers, rangers and scouts.
Also on the parapet of the east wall, are four Farqian engineers. Who have a small, two man basket catapult with them. The only war machine on the east wall of castle Measum.
And at nightfall, they're joined by a squad of twenty five goblins in the battalion of goblins in the first army of Farque. A crazed ork, a pompous knight, and an enigmatic physical adept.
Still even with these new additions. Those defending the east wall are even less than those defending the north wall of castle Measum.
And to the north of the large castle, the terrain is rocky and dangerous. So much so, that the enemy attacking lord Measum's ancestral home.
Haven't even bothered to set anyone to watching the north wall of the large castle this evening.
As they, and just about everyone within castle Measum think attacking the north wall of the castle is a lethal lesson in futility.
The one person within castle Measum who said he'd attack the north wall of the large castle if he was with the enemy.
Grunts as he steps up onto the parapet of the east wall of the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
The evening is noticeably cooler than the warm day. A sure sign that it's definitely the second half of summer now, here in the kingdom of Melaurn.
There's a fairly steady breeze blowing across the top of the east wall of the large castle, much to the relief of Dorc da Orc.
After Teabagger the Goblin Cunt has the squad of twenty five goblins spread out along the parapet.
The ork general, and the goblin commander. As well as sir Percavelle Lé Dic, and Shur Kee the monk.
Make their way to where the captain of the guard, Domall. Is standing above the east gates of castle Measum.
The ork weaponsmith glances back at the keep and the town within the large castle.
And wonders if he should get someone to bring something up to him to eat.
As he only had a quick bite to eat during sunset over on the west wall of castle Measum.
Before Tovis the war engineer, told him to come over here, to the east wall of the large castle.
There's just a few lit torches along the top of the east wall. Not much in the way to illuminate things this evening.
That's no problem for the large ork and the goblins. As their nightvision is just as good as if they're were seeing in the middle of the day.
The ork general in the armies of Farque, sniffs and listens carefully for a few moments as he stands there above the gates.
"Some of 'em fucken cunts are coming up this way" says Dorc da Orc to the local captain of the guard.
"How many of them?" asks Domall the captain of the guard here at castle Measum.
"A few hundred or so" is the reply of the big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world with a shrug of his massive shoulders.
Lord Measum's guard captain grimaces when he hears that. For even with the addition of the squad of goblins.
There's still only sixty or so of them defending the east wall of the largest castle in the entire south of the kingdom of Melaurn.
"Fucken pussy" loudly mutters the ork warleader in his own language, when he sees the guard captain grimacing.
Then Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name switches back to the common language, and points to the south side of the cutting, and says "Some of 'em fuckers gonna come up there".
The weaponsmith from the wolf tribe of orks then waves a large, meaty, skillet sized hand in the direction of the narrow road, that goes through the cutting on it's way to the east gates of castle Measum, and he says "The rest of the fucking cunts gonna come up the road".
Domall, the captain of the guard nods. As they're expecting an attack on the east wall of the large castle this evening.
Now it's confirmed by the ork general in the armies of Farque, who can hear and smell the enemy coming up the winding road.
The captain of the guard, who is careful how he says things around the large ork, asks him "What do you suggest?".
"Fucken kill 'em" is the reply of the warleader of the ork race.
"Something more specific you foul smelling beast" sourly says sir Percavelle Lé Dic, who then adds a muttered "Wot".
The son of the former matriarch of the wolf tribe of orks, who he killed. Which was only fair, as she was doing her best to kill him at the time.
Glares at his bitter rival, the nobleborn knight from the kingdom of Druvic.
Then the big, burly ork from the frozen bottom of the world looks at the guard captain again, and tells him "Most of 'em cunts will attack this half of the wall". The large ork gestures at the southern half of the east wall as he says that.
Then the ork general adds "While others will attack the fucken gate itself".
The captain of the guard nods his head at that. As that's more than likely to happen.
As the gates on this side of the castle, are it's weakest point. Especially in comparison to the gates over on the west wall of castle Measum.
Here on the east wall, the gates aren't banded with thick iron strips like the large gates on the west side of the castle that's been the ancestral home of lord Measum's family for centuries.
The eastern gates though solid and thick, are still just wood. The only additional support they have is the wooden bar across them on the inside. Which took six of his men to put in place before the battle got underway.
Then before captain Domall suggests what they do, the ork warleader tells him "Have most of your cunts try and stop the fuckheads from getting to the gates".
Dorkindle who knows it's the gates are the weakest spot on the eastern side of castle Measum.
Is pretty sure the enemy, who sent a force of around a quarter of their army, after they were repelled earlier this afternoon from the west side of the large castle.
Away to the south and east to circle castle Measum, to eventually get onto the road that comes up the hill, and through the cutting at the brow of the hill, where the road comes right up to the east wall gates of the large castle, that's the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
Will have a battering ram of some kind, which they'll use to attack the gates on this side of castle Measum.
Infact, the ork weaponsmith is pretty certain he can smell them carrying a battering ram with the some of the horses they've got.
Though to be fair, the ork general is more interested in the horses the enemy to the east of the large castle have with them, than the battering ram they've got.
Dorc da Orc then looks down at the captain of the local nobleman's garrison and says to him "You fucken do that then".
"We shall" is the reply of Domall, the captain of the guard. Who in the faint light of a nearby torch.
Looks at the small, bright green goblin, the large heavily armoured knight, and the short, statured monk wearing an odd conical shaped hat, who are with the big, burly looking ork from the southern polar region of the world.
The three of them just look back at him, without saying a word. If he thought they would say something to counter the large ork, he's out of luck.
Even the ork warleader's bitter rival, the former paladin from the kingdom of Druvic who usually argues with the large ork, is silent.
As he knows Dorkindle's rather basic plan, is actually the best thing to do if they want to stop the enemy from breaching the east gates of castle Measum.
"I'll make sure the men concentrate on stopping those attacking the gates directly" says Domall, the guard captain of the castle garrison.
The ork weaponsmith just grunts to that, then he moves off to where the four Farqian engineers are standing nearby, watching them in silence.
The large ork is followed by Teabagger the Goblin Cunt, sir Percavelle Lé Dic, and Shur Kee the monk.
Who Tovis the war engineer sent to keep an eye on the bitter rivals, the ork warleader and the member of the order of The Knights of Saint Mar-che.
Dorkindle briefly speaks with the Farqian engineers, he doesn't have to explain much to them.
As they've already set up their small basket catapult giving them a clear shot at the enemy if they come through the cutting, directly at the gates.
The ork general also has a brief word with a couple of the Farqian rangers who are on the parapet of the east wall.
The warleader of the ork race is glad he doesn't have to explain much to them. They're highly trained, and know what to do in a battle.
Now they wait, and a little while after Dorc da Orc growls to put out the few lit torches along the parapet.
One of the goblins towards the southern end of the east wall parapet, calls out something in the language of the goblin race.
"They're coming up over that side of the cutting general" quietly says Teabagger the Goblin Cunt pointing at the southern side of the cutting at the top of the hill.
The large ork grunts, while one of the Farqian rangers with his longbow, walks towards the southern end of the parapet, here on the east wall of castle Measum.
Even those without naturally enhanced nightvision spots the first of the enemy come up over the side of the cutting.
Then tumble down it towards the road with a yard long shaft, shot from a Farqian ranger's longbow through his chest.
"That is the first of them" quietly says Shur Kee the monk.
Dorkindle grunts in agreement with the short, statured monk. Then the ork weaponsmith along with the goblins hear the enemy rushing up the otherside of the road.
While more of them start appearing on the southern side of the cutting.
Then as the first of the enemy soldiers appears on the narrow road through the cutting.
The warleader of the ork race lets out a loud roar, signifying the start of the night battle, here on the east side of castle Measum.
On what's a relatively cool summer evening, here in the province of Corlinda, in the south of the kingdom of Melaurn.
Dorc da Orc biffs one of his longspears, which slams into the chest of one of the enemy soldiers, rushing through the cutting, trying to get to the gates in the east wall of the large castle, that's the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
That soldier from one of the other provinces to the north of Corlinda.
Goes flying backwards, smashing into a couple of his fellow soldiers following closely behind him.
The large ork who has ordered those defenders with ranged weapons to target the enemy whilst they're in the cutting.
As he hopes to impede their progress, and clog up the cutting. Making it difficult for the rest of the enemy to reach the gates.
Turns his head, and watches the small catapult launch a load of rocks, at the enemy who have got to this end of the cutting.
The small war machine doesn't have a particular long range. Infact it's range limit is at this end of the cutting, which is about a hundred and fifty feet from the east wall of castle Measum.
"I do believe that's scaling ladders they've got there, wot" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic as he can just make out some of the enemy rushing down the southern side of the cutting towards the road.
The first lot, fall and drop their ladder when one of them is hit in the throat, from an arrow shot from a Farqian scout's bow.
The next lot carrying a scaling ladder, drop it as well. When two of them fall over.
One with a crossbow bolt in the face shot from the weapon of a goblin in the squad who have accompanied their commander and general to the east wall of castle Measum.
The other with an arrow between the ribs, shot from the bow of one of the local soldiers from the garrison here in the large castle.
"I do believe it's about to get busy, wot" states sir Percavelle Lé Dic as he takes a pick hammer from his belt, and draws the sword of knockdown.
The former paladin's bitter rival, grunts in agreement with him, then Dorkindle shouts "Fucken get some!". As he throws another longspear at the enemy who are running along the narrow road, through the cutting.
Trying to get to the east wall, and the gates along this side of the largest castle, not just in Corlinda. But in all of the south of the kingdom of Melaurn . . . . . .

To War 89.

Summer. In The Northeast Of The Province Of Corlinda.

Teabagger the Goblin Cunt looks down at the moat along the west wall of castle Measum.
And he spots one of the enemy struggling through the water, trying to get back to the otherside.
Smoke briefly drifts by from a burning raft from further down the moat on this side of the large castle.
Then the small bright green goblin, who is the commander of a battalion of goblins in the first army of Farque, looks to his right.
"Boss, er general" says Teabagger the Goblin Cunt, who then adds "One of them is still alive trying to get back across to the otherside".
The goblin commander sourly smiles as his general is standing there scratching his ass whilst looking off into the distance to the west.
"Huh?" grunts Dorc da Orc as he looks down at Teabagger who is standing beside him on the parapet of the west wall of castle Measum.
As one of the trebuchets sends off a load of rocks and broken masonry at the retreating enemy. The large ork looks to where the goblin commander points.
The ork warleader who is a general in the armies of Farque grunts as he sees the enemy soldier down in the moat.
Struggling through the water, pushing away any of the dead bodies that gets in his way.
The ork weaponsmith then looks around for something to throw, as he doesn't want to throw one of his own weapons.
The big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world, briefly contemplates picking up Teabagger, and throwing him. But instead he says "Cunt get me that".
The small, bright lurid green goblin who is originally from the province of Sorros in northern Melaurn.
Makes his way to the next merlon along, and takes the spear leaning up against it.
The goblin commander walks back and hands it to his general, who grunts as he takes it off him.
Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name, starts to grin as he watches the enemy soldier making his way to the otherside of the moat.
The large ork who is a member of the wolf tribe of orks, waits before he throws the spear.
The big, burly ork form the frozen bottom of the world doesn't throw the spear until the enemy soldier gets to the otherside of the moat. Haul himself out of the water, and start limping away, heading back to his army that's in retreat from this side of castle Measum.
Surprisingly for the usually violent warleader of the ork race, he doesn't throw the spear particularly forcefully.
Infact he throws it with a light touch, something of a rarity for the weaponsmith from the wolf tribe of orks.
For a moment it doesn't even look like the spear will make it across the moat from the top of the twenty five foot tall west wall of the large castle.
But it does, and it does hit the enemy soldier, who is limping away after his retreating army.
It doesn't hit him hard, but it hits him hard enough in the back to knock him down to the ground, face first.
Where he lies, howling and screaming in pain with the spear sticking out of his back.
Teabagger the Goblin Cunt who has seen his general throw a spear ten times further, with so much force it cuts a person in half.
Sourly smiles and glances sideways at the large ork, who bursts out laughing.
So much so that he doubles over, slaps his thighs as he starts crying from the laughter.
"What's that foul beast hollering about?" asks sir Percavelle Lé Dic from further along the parapet of the west wall of castle Measum.
The large, heavily, armoured nobleborn knight who hails from the kingdom of Druvic, looks along the wall to where the large ork is with some of the goblin battalion.
"Stupid beast" loudly mutters sir Percavelle Lé Dic as he watches his bitter rival laughing uncontrollably about fifty feet to the right along the top of the longest wall of the large castle, that's the ancestral home of the local nobleman, lord Measum.
"I think friend Dorc just did that" says Shur Kee the monk who is beside the former paladin, who is a member of the order of The Knights of Saint Mar-che.
The former earl of Lé Dic, which is his family's fief in the east of the kingdom of Druvic.
Looks to where the short, statured monk standing beside him points.
"How drool, wot" dryly says sir Percavelle Lé Dic, or Percy as he's more commonly called by those who know him well.
The nobleborn knight just shakes his head as he looks at the enemy soldier on the otherside of the moat.
Lying there, screaming in pain, while trying to crawl away, but is unable to thanks to the spear in his back thrown by the ork general.
The nobleborn knight turns as does Shur Kee, and they see Tovis the war engineer making his way along the parapet, heading in this direction.
With the young engineer, who like Percy, is from the kingdom of Druvic. Is his adjunct, along with the sorceress Heinë.
The captain in the engineering corp of the first army of Farque stops next to the former paladin and the physical adept.
"I say young Tovis, will we be giving chase to this rabble now that they're on the run?" asks the large, heavily armoured knight, who then adds "Wot".
"Er no" says Tovis the war engineer, who continues on with "Remember we want to keep them occupied, so they don't head further south into Corlinda, or over into Karricaw".
"Right" says the Druvician nobleman, who then loudly mutters "Always forget that bit".
Then the member of the order of the Knights of Saint Mar-che scowls as his bitter rival, Dorc da Orc. Can still be heard laughing from further along the top of the wall.
With a frown upon his face, the war engineer asks "What's got Dorc so amused?".
Sir Percavelle doesn't respond, he continues to scowl. So it's Shur Kee the monk who answers the young engineer, who is a captain in the armies of Farque.
"That, there" says the acolyte in the philosophical order of Bru Li.
The young engineer, who previously served in the army of a baron Harkonin in the east of his homeland, the kingdom of Druvic.
Looks to where Shur Kee has nodded, and he sees the enemy soldier across the moat, trying to crawl away with a spear in his back.
"I see" dryly says the commander of the engineering corp in the first army of Farque.
Who is in charge of the defence of the large castle, that's the ancestral home of the lord Measum.
Here in the northeast of the province of Corlinda. In what's referred to as the The Corner.
Where the provinces of Mofosild, Moleau and Corlinda all meet, with the border of the province of Karricaw not far from where those three provinces meet.
Tovis calls out "Clear away the dead, and get our wounded seen to!".
The young Druvician engineer, looks down at the moat, at the bodies in the water, and hopes disease doesn't spread through the castle in this summer heat.
He's just glad the water supply here in castle Measum doesn't come from the moat.
Or to be exact, the river that's been diverted to go into the moat that's on the western and southern side of the large castle that's been the ancestral home of lord Measum's family for centuries.
"Subaltern can you clear some of that up?" asks Tovis, as he looks down at the bodies floating in the moat along this side of the large castle.
"Yes captain" says the sorceress Heinë, who is one of the more temperamental spellcasters in the first army of Farque.
And she's definitely the most temperamental person that the war engineer has under his command.
With the exception of the bitter rivals, Dorc da Orc and sir Percavelle Lé Dic.
"You get started on that" says the captain in the armies of Farque, who follows that with "I need to speak with the warleader".
The attractive looking sorceress with the black hair nods. And the war engineer, along with his adjunct head along the parapet.
They're followed by both Shur Kee the monk, and sir Percavelle Lé Dic.
When Tovis gets to where the ork general and the goblin commander are on top of the west wall of castle Measum.
Flames erupt along the surface of the moat for a distance of nearly a hundred feet.
The black, greasy smoke of burning bodies starts to rise up into the air with the flames too.
Dorc da Orc who stops laughing, and starts vigorously sniffing as bodies start burning down on the moat by a spell cast by Heinë the sorceress.
Grunts as Tovis the war engineer asks him "Think they'll attack again today Dorc?".
The large ork, who is starting to salivate at the smell of the burning bodies. Looks away to the west, and watches the retreating enemy.
And though some of them are around to the south of castle Measum.
The bulk of their army made up predominantly of allies to the crown. From predominantly up in the provinces of Olind and Calinar, and some from Sorros.
Once again attacked the west side of the large castle that's the ancestral home of the Measum family.
Due to it being the shortest of the walls, and the longest by far. Not to mention the ground to the west of the large castle is more gentle and easy going than on the three other sides of it.
"Who the fuck knows" says the big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world.
Who hopes the sorceress Heinë who is burning the dead bodies down in the moat with magical fire.
Doesn't set the injured enemy soldier with the spear in his back, just on the otherside of the moat, on fire as well.
The ork warleader, who as a general in the armies of Farque. Far out ranks Tovis.
Just that no one bothers to inform the large ork about that. As they don't want him making any decisions when it comes to what they're doing.
The young engineer, who is a captain in the armies of Farque. Uses the information that Dorkindle gives him. And makes decisions from that, and from other sources. When he decides how to defend castle Measum.
Nods his head, as the ork weaponsmith tells him "They fucken might attack at night next".
The son of the previous matriarch of the wolf tribe of orks, then mutters "Fucken me would".
As the large ork finds the afternoon sun and heat too much for him. And he needs to get into some shade so he can cool off.
Especially with the flames coming off the water in the moat, rising up and increasing the heat along the west wall of castle Measum.
"Just as long as we can still keep them busy" quietly says the young engineer who hails from the kingdom of Druvic.
The commander of the engineering corp in the first army of Farque then says to his adjunct "Have a messenger go over to the east wall".
The war engineer continues with "They might try coming up the trail there again".
As the adjunct calls for a runner, and Dorc da Orc who is sweating profusely in the heat of the afternoon. Continues to salivate at the smell of the burning bodies down in the moat.
Tovis along with Shur Kee the monk, and sir Percavelle Lé Dic move a bit further along the wall. Beyond the flames rising up from the surface of the moat.
They're followed by Teabagger the Goblin Cunt, who leaves his general standing there drooling.
"Looks like some of them are regrouping" quietly says the war engineer who is in charge of the defence of castle Measum.
The enemy, who have learnt their lesson. And now have their camp well beyond the range of the two trebuchets that Tovis has at his disposal.
Predominantly on the south side of the road that's to the west of the large castle.
Are forming up some of their ranks who have retreated after another failed attack upon the west wall of castle Measum.
"I hope they're thinking about attacking one of the other sides of the castle, and not thinking about taking off" says the young engineer who is originally from the kingdom of Druvic.
Shur Kee the monk and Teabagger the Goblin Cunt, nod in agreement with the captain in the armies of Farque.
While sir Percavelle Lé Dic grunts in agreement with his fellow countryman.
The four of them along with the war engineer's adjunct, who has joined them again.
Are silent for a little while as they watch what the enemy are up to.
Tovis who for a few moments, thinks the king's allies are going to move off and head west.
Nods his head as he sees about a quarter of them start heading back this way.
And before they get in range of the pair of trebuchets that the engineering corp of the first army of Farque brought with them. They turn off the road, and head south.
"Hmmm me thinks these villains are going to attack the south side of the castle, wot" says sir Percavelle Lé Dic. "Maybe" says Tovis the war engineer, who after a brief pause adds "Or they'll circle around to the east side".
Which the young engineer suspects is exactly what they'll do.
For though there's a winding road, a trail really. That comes up the rocky ground to the east.
There's no moat on the east side of castle Measum. And the gate on that side of the large castle isn't as well made, or fortified like the gates on this side of castle Measum.
Tovis who figures the enemy force who will go around to the east side of the castle, will get there at twilight.
Nods his head, then says "I think Dorc is right". Sir Percavelle Lé Dic scowl when he hears that.
"They'll attack at night" continues the captain in the armies of Farque, who briefly pauses before he adds "On this side of the castle, and around on the east side".
Tovis is silent for a few moments, then he says "This should make for an interesting night" . . . . . .

To War 88.

Summer. Southern Melaurn.

The young adjunct in training Hamblin slightly jumps when he turns around and finds Arveem the undead heavy foot trooper has walked up behind him without making a sound.
"Relax Hamblin, nothing to worry about" says Arveem the undead heavy foot trooper.
"Yes trooper" says Hamblin, who is an officer in training, who is the aide to the large, heavily armoured undead foot trooper.
The youngster from the northwest of the lands Farque looks back to the north, trying to spot any movement in that direction.
"Nothing that way" says Arveem, who like the fourteen year old from northwestern Farque, is speaking in the elven language.
"Unless you don't count that idiot brother of mine" dryly adds the undead being who stands near seven foot tall, and is well in excess of three hundred pounds in weight.
"I head that!" calls out a voice in the distance away to the north.
"I was hoping you had" says Arveem with a shake of his full helmed head.
As the undead scout Dargarven makes his way back to where Arveem and his aide Hamblin are waiting.
The undead heavy foot trooper says to the young officer in training "The scout Maera is away in that direction".
Arveem who is pointing away to their right, continues with "She's heading this way" followed by "Go and inform her that this way is as a good as any".
The large, heavily armoured figure then adds "The field commander will want to know".
"Yes trooper" says Hamblin the adjunct in training, who took some time to not initially say "Yes sir" all the time, in response to the heavy foot trooper.
Who like his brother Dargarven, and the many other Farqian undead who aren't officers, or knighted. Absolutely dislike being referred to as sir.
The teenager from the northwest of the lands Farque, turns to his right, and hurries away.
Going in search of the scout Lisell Maera, who is heading in this direction.
The army led by the young field commander Tamric Drubine. Is in the north of the province of Corlinda.
Not all that far from the border with the province of Moleau. Which they'll soon cross, and enter the province immediately to the north of Corlinda.
After meeting up with the young adjunct in training Hamblin. Lisell Maera the scout makes her way back to the bulk of the army, who are coming up a road in the very north of the province of Corlinda.
The attractive young woman originally from the city-state of Brattonbury, who is now in the scouts and rangers division of the armies of Farque.
Finds field commander Drubine riding near the front of the army. Who are all in the first army of Farque.
Tamric Drubine, along with his lover, Saanea the witch. Along with some of the field commanders staff.
Make their way off the road to where the scout Maera is waiting for them.
"Not that far from here" says Lisell Maera the scout, who follows that with "About a mile and half further up the road, there's spot where we can go cross country, and enter Corlinda".
Lisell Maera, or Lis as she's more commonly called by those who know her well, then says "No need to use the road" followed by "And it's quicker going cross country by the sounds of it".
"Any enemy in the vicinity?" asks Tamric Drubine the field commander, who has dismounted and is letting his mount crop at the summer grass just off the side of the road.
"No one for twenty miles apart from local farmers and villagers" says the attractive young woman from the coastal city-state of Brattonbury.
Whose mother was a street prostitute, and whose father. A man she never knew, or for that matter, ever met. Was a sailor who plied his trade along the coast of the Southlands, out on the Great Western Ocean.
The nobleborn field commander, who hails from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, nods his head in understanding.
As he realises Lis got her information from one of the undead brothers, Arveem or Dargarven.
As they can sense up to twenty or so miles away. Anything living, or for that matter, dead.
Who can easily locate large bodies of people, such as armies within the limits of their ability to sense.
Field commander Drubine, who is still a teenager. Who knows that lord Farque himself can sense even further. Looks at his lover, Saanea the witch. Who has closed her eyes.
After a few moments, the pretty looking spellcaster who is from the Maldin Hills, opens her eyes.
"I know where it is" says Saanea the witch, who has just been looking through the eyes of her familiar. Which at the moment, is a bird of prey, flying away to the north of the army.
"It will be quicker than the road" continues the witch, who joined the group that travels with lord Farque, last summer.
Though the undead warlord, and most of the rest of the group weren't actually in the Southlands.
When Tamric Drubine, Lisell Maera and a few others in the group, found the pretty looking hillwoman.
"Which goes more to the west, than directly north into Moleau" adds the witch, who is just a few years older than her lover, field commander Drubine.
The son and former heir of the Knight of Castle Drubine, a castle and it's lands that can be found in the forested north of the kingdom of Sarcrin.
Nods his head, then says "We'll go that way then".
Tamric Drubine, or Tam as he's more commonly called by the others in the group, says to Lis "Tell Dargarven and Arveem we'll head that way" followed by "We shouldn't be long".
The scout Maera, who rose in rank from runner or messenger, to full scout, in the autumn last year. Nods her head, and takes off at run.
While Tam remounts, as does Saanea the witch and the others, and they get back on the road with the rest of the Farqian mercenary army.
Who have been hired by lord Gormica of Salmah Forest. As he finds himself at war with the crown and king of Melaurn.
Just a little while later in the morning, and the force of about three thousand of the ten or so thousand strong, first army of Farque.
Cross over the border, and enter the province of Moleau.
Though minus the goblin battalion, and number of others they had with them previously.
Who have remained in the very northeast of the province of Corlinda. In the area known as the Corlinda Corner. Where that province, along with the provinces of Karricaw, Moleau and Mofosild border each other.
Hamblin the adjunct in training, stands on a low bluff. Looking away to the north, at the province of Moleau, which they're now in.
The teenager from the northwest of the lands Farque, looks down to the left of the bluff.
And watches the foreriders of the Farqian force led by field commander Drubine, leading the way north.
Hamblin, who knows that there's actually Farqian scouts and rangers even further to the north.
Knows that this is the first time a significant force in the first army of Farque has left either Corlinda or Karricaw, and gone north into the province of Moleau.
At least a third of the mercenary army from the lands of Farque is now going northwards.
Essentially invading the province of Moleau, taking advantage of the recent defeats the crown forces have suffered of late.
Hamblin, who doesn't know how the war is going further to the west. But he assumes it's going just as well, as it is here, further to the east.
Looks at the undead brothers Arveem and Dargarven, who he's with on top of the bluff.
Both of whom, turned and looked to the northeast at the same time.
The young teenager from the northwest of the lands Farque. Always finds it uncanny how the undead brothers can basically move in perfect unison at times.
Speaking outloud, so his aide doesn't feel left out, Arveem the undead heavy foot trooper says "Heading this way, you think?".
"Maybe" replies Dargarven the undead scout, who continues with "Either way, if it keeps coming westwards, it should spot us".
The much larger of the two brothers, who is also the older of the two by a few years, nods his full helmed head, then explains to his aide Hamblin "Wyvern and it's rider to the northeast".
The adjunct in training nods in understanding when the undead heavy foot trooper tells him "It's heading west, and should be able to see our army if they look in this direction".
"Hopefully it's an inattentive rider" says Dargarven, who though an inch or two over six foot, is absolutely dwarfed by his near seven foot tall older brother.
"Though i doubt it" dryly adds the undead scout, who though he wears a sleeveless light leather armour vest, wears a full helm that encloses his whole head.
A few moments later, and Dargarven says "Told you". As both he and his brother Arveem both sense and see the wyvern nearly twenty miles away to the northeast, turn south as it continues flying westwards.
The undead scout takes a running leap off the bluff, falling about fifty feet, before landing on a game trail that winds it's way up the face of the bluff.
As Hamblin watches Dargarven turn into a blur of movement as he runs down the rest of the bluff.
He's suddenly grabbed by the undead heavy foot trooper Arveem. And the next moment they're falling through the air.
The young officer in training barely gets out a gasp in surprise before they hit the ground, on the game trail up the face of the bluff.
"Back to the army Hamblin" says Arveem who sets his aide down. Then the undead heavy foot trooper takes off down the trail at a run. Quickly turning into a blur of movement, like his brother Dargarven, who Hamblin can't even see now.
The young teenager from the northwest of the lands Farque takes off running too.
Hoping he doesn't fall and break his neck as he heads down the game trail on the face of the bluff.
Knowing that he'll rejoin the army, well after the undead brothers Dargarven and Arveem.
Who are already gone from the face of the bluff, with the undead scout Dargarven already almost halfway to the Farqian force that's led by Tamric Drubine the field commander.
Who have just crossed over the border, and entered the province of Moleau.
When he gets to the army heading north, Dargarven the undead scout waves at field commander Drubine.
Who along with his lover, Saanea the witch, and a few others. Ride out of line to join the undead scout who is soon joined by his older brother, the heavy foot trooper, Arveem.
"How far?" asks Tamric Drubine the field commander once the undead scout has explained what's happening.
"Not all that far, probably about ten miles now" says Dargarven, while next to him, his older brother Arveem nods his full helmed head in agreement.
"Most likely can see us now" says Arveem as he joins in on the conversation.
And as his aide, the young adjunct, Hamblin comes into view from the nearby bluff, huffing and puffing from running so fast.
The large heavily armoured undead foot trooper looks at Saanea the witch, and asks the spellcaster "Can you do anything?".
"Not a spell that far away" says Saanea the witch, whose grasp of the elven language is slowly improving the more and more she uses it.
The pretty looking hillwoman, who is the lover of the young field commander on the horse next to her.
Briefly pauses before she continues on with "Though there's something i might be able to do".
The spellcaster from the Maldin Hills closes her eyes. And near instantly she's looking through the eyes of her familiar.
Which is circling the army at the moment, and she instructs it to fly quickly northwards.
He spots it well after his mount, which has been squawking and growling for the last little while, as he tries to get the unruly beast under control.
As it headed against his commands, more to the south, than the west the direction they're supposed to be going.
Eventually he sees it away to the south, and his mouth drops opens in surprise.
"Damn" murmurs the surprised wyvern rider as he watches the army away to the south.
That by the looks of it, has crossed over the border into the province of Moleau as it heads north.
The flyer in the king's own, immediately knows it's the enemy. As even from where he is, he can see that pretty much all of them are in black.
As his mount continues southwards, the rider who is trying to count how many are in the enemy army that's come over the border from the province of Corlinda.
Scowls as his mount, lets out an agitated squawk, followed by a rumbling growl.
The flyer in the king's own, thinks about shouting at it. As it, like all wyverns, are highly agitated and temperamental to say the least.
But he doesn't bother, as he finds himself gripping the reins as it goes to dive without him ordering it to.
As his mount lets out a squawk, the flyer in the king's own. At the last moment sees a dark shape coming right at him.
Next thing he knows, he's screaming in pain, and he grasps his bleeding face that's been badly clawed.
He's let go of the reins, and before he knows it, he's slipped out of the saddle, and falling out of the sky, screaming.
As the wyvern lets out a loud squawk, and tries to turn and dive.
The falcon that's just attacked the wyvern rider in the king's own.
Has already turned, and is winging it's way back to the south.
As it does, it looks back and watches the flyer fall to the ground, with the wyvern diving after him.
"He's dead" says Saanea the witch when she opens her eyes, after watching the enemy wyvern flyer fall five hundred feet to the ground.
They all look away to the north, and a couple of miles away in that direction. They see the wyvern circling for a little while, before it turns, and slowly wings it's way to the north.
"Good" says Tamric Drubine the field commander, who then after a brief pause adds "Let us continue northwards" . . . . . .
