Soldier Of Gods 44.

The City Of Tuledare.

"Hold up a moment" quietly says Saanea the witch, next to her Tamric Drubine the field commander holds up a hand for those following to stop.
Before the young field commander can ask his lover what's going on, the attractive witch from the Maldin Hills, quietly says "We might have a bit of a problem".
Further ahead, Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy glances down as he sees a cat beside him. The elf originally from the principality of Alínlae lifts an eyebrow as he looks down at the cat.
Which he didn't hear at all, which wouldn't ordinarily happen. But this particular cat is different.
The feline which has deliberately looked around the corner, then stepped back. Looks up at the elven spy who is a commander in the Armies of Farque.
The spy Tanith slightly nods, and he hears the tabby cat purr, before it turns around and heads back down the hallway.
Dalinvardèl Tanith or Dalin as he's more commonly called by those who know him well, takes out a small crossbow from beneath his cloak.
A weapon that expands, when he pulls the underside on it, making it longer, and extending the bow too. The elven spy takes a bolt from his hidden quiver, and places it into the weapon.
And then he waits as he continues to listen to a mercenary company, who are around the corner to the right.
In a hallway that leads to the offices and rooms, where the bureaucracy of the ruling council of Tuledare usually works from.
Further back in the main building of the ruling council of Tuledare, Saanea the witch, quietly says "There's a company of mercs where we want to go" followed by "Dalin is keeping an eye on them".
With a slight frown upon his face, Tamric Drubine the field commander says "I thought all the mercenary companies in the city were shipped off to the front?".
"Apparently not" says the attractive looking witch who is from the Maldin Hills, which is near the coast of the Southlands.
"I think they've got a spellcaster with them" states Saanea, who with a pointed look at the mace, Beldane the cleric has on his belt, she dryly adds "I can't tell for sure".
With a roll of his eyes, and a hand tap on the knob of his magical mace, Beldane the cleric after his weapon 'quietens down', says "There is" followed by "A sorcerer by the feel of it".
Saanea nods in agreement as she too can now sense the spellcaster in question, then she quietly says "If he's any good, he should've sensed us too". Referring to herself, and the powerful fighting cleric in the church of Glaine, Beldane.
Tamric Drubine nods, then asks "How many in this company?". His lover replies with "About forty from what I could see".
As that is what her familiar, which in cat form, could see when it looked around the corner where Dalinvardèl Tanith is at the moment.
The young field commander who hails from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, nods his head, then quietly says "Let's push on".
Tam as he gets underway again, looks back and spots Dorc da Orc come into a view, in the hallway off the long curving one that they were in previously.
The large ork, who is accompanied by a squad of black clad Farqian soldiers, an infiltration squad in the Scouts and Rangers division of the Fifth Army of Farque.
Is about to call out to the others when he enters the hallway they're in when he spots them just up ahead.
But miraculously, he doesn't. As he spots Tamric Drubine the field commander, look back at him. And motion for him to be silent, with a hand signal.
Dorc da Orc or Dorkindle which is his given name, sourly smiles as he taught the young field commander those hand signals himself, when Tamric Drubine was a boy.
Hand signals which the ork warleader, a number of years ago, learnt from Lord Farque himself. When it was just the two of them traveling around the Southlands. Before they met anyone else who would later join the group.
The big burly ork from the southern polar region of the world, then scowls when he spots his arch rival sir Percavelle Le Dic. Walking near the back of the group that's just up ahead.
Then because he can't help himself, the ork weaponsmith snorts in derision, then chuckles as he spots the rather rotund woman by the name of Malisse, walking alongside the large, heavily armoured knight who hails from the kingdom of Druvic.
Still chuckling under his breath, the large ork who is a general in the Armies of Farque continues on his way after the others.
Followed closely, though not too closely, after all he does stink beyond belief. By the infiltration squad led by the lead scout Maiya Garney.
Who glances back at the sorcerer Carnid, who quietly says in elven to the lead scout "Think there's a spellcaster, a sorcerer by the feel of things" followed by "Somewhere up ahead in the direction we're heading".
The caster of spells in the infiltration squad continues with "Bit hard to tell" he then adds "That mace of the cleric Beldane tends to confuse things".
Maiya Garney nods in understanding, then she looks ahead again, as she and her squad follow along behind the warleader of the ork race who is a general in the Armies of Farque.
Further back in the main building of the ruling council of Tuledare, in the curving hallway that circles the central chamber here in what's essentially the largest building in the capital city of Tuledare.
Jovan Garney the cleric and those from his church who accompany him, approaches the hallway that he senses some of those that they're following have entered.
"Slow down a bit" quietly says Jovan Garney the cleric to the members of the church who are with him, on this cold autumn day in the capital city of Tuledare.
The powerful young spellcaster in the church of Kaēvin looks into the hallway ahead, then nods as up ahead in the distance, he spots his older sister Maiya and her squad, following the large figure of general Dorc da Orc.
The fighting cleric nods, then he quietly says to the guardsmen Oldham and Sammit, the priestess Saleane and the others "Let's keep going".
The seventeen year old cleric in the church of Kaēvin leads the way into the next hallway after he senses another spellcaster in the distance, somewhere in this part of the main building of the ruling council of the city-state of Tuledare.
Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy after taking another peek around the corner, where he sees members of a mercenary company, milling around in front of the doors at the far end of the hallway around the corner. Steps back and glances behind him as he hears others approaching.
The spy in the Armies of Farque who previously served in one of the more prominent noble houses of his homeland, the elven principality of Alínlae.
When he sees Tamric Drubine the field commander, Saanea the witch, and Beldane the cleric leading the others this way.
Gestures for them to be silent as the approach him, and where he's standing at the end of the hallway, one of many on the west side of the massive circular building, that's the main building of the ruling council of Tuledare, here in the heart of the city.
The spy Tanith with his loaded crossbow in hand, which he holds to the side at the moment, steps forward once more, and takes another quick peek around the corner.
The commander in the Armies of Farque sees that the mercenaries aren't particularly worried about what could be down this end of the hallway they're in.
Dalin has hardly seen any of them even look in this direction, whenever he's taken a peek around the corner.
The elven spy suspects there might be a magical alarm, such as warning spell placed at this end of hallway the company of mercenaries are in.
And if he was to step out into the hallway, he would probably set it off, if such a spell is actually there.
The spy Tanith waits for the rest of the group led by Tamric Drubine to get to him, and when they do, Dalinvardèl Tanith with a nod to the right, quietly says "That way".
The elf who is originally from the principality of Alínlae follows that with "Towards that end of the hallway" he continues with "Looks like the doors down there are locked as well".
The commander in the Armies of Farque then adds "I'm pretty sure their magic user is the one pacing back and forth down that end too".
As the rest of the group with the young field commander comes to a stop a bit back from the four near the corner.
Tamric Drubine looks at both Saanea the witch and Beldane the cleric. Both spellcasters nod, then his lover Saanea quietly says "It's a sorcerer alright".
She gestures around the corner as she continues with "He's laid a number of traps around the corner and down the hallway" followed by "Deadly traps too".
After nodding, field commander Drubine quietly asks the two practitioners of magic "Can you get rid of them?".
"Dispelling them might take a bit of time" quietly replies Beldane the cleric who follows that with "Even for me".
The powerful cleric originally from the kingdom of Nastell, whose god Glaine, is predominantly worshipped in the north of that particular kingdom, then quietly adds "Might be best if I just triggered them".
Field commander Drubine nods, as he figures that will add to the confusion of what's about to happen. Which is fine by him.
Then the young noble originally from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, then quietly says "I'll quickly tell the others what we're going to do".
"What are we going to do?" quietly asks Saanea the witch, whose familiar, still a cat at the moment, is sitting on her left shoulder.
With a nod of his head in the direction of the company of mercenaries around the corner, Tamric Drubine quietly replies with "Why, deal to that lot of course" . . . . . .
