Soldier Of Gods 54.

Tuledare.

"We'll catch up later" says Maiya Garney the lead scout, followed by "At his church". In response to sergeant Blufont asking her "What did you say?".
After the lead scout from the infiltration squad had a quick word with her younger brother, Jovan Garney the cleric.
They're outside the main building of the ruling council of the city-state of Tuledare. And those who had gathered here on the front steps earlier, are dispersing.
Including Jovan Garney and members of his church, who are crossing the massive square in front of the main building of Tuledare's ruling council.
The scout Garney, who is watching her younger brother, head presumably back to the church of Kaēvin's cathedral, in the eastern quarter of the city.
Looks over to where Tamric Drubine the field commander is with some of the others in the group, that travels with Lord Farque.
The young field commander, who spoke with Jovan Garney a little earlier. About what, Maiya Garney isn't sure about.
Though the lead scout is of the opinion that they must of been discussing what's essentially the aftermath of the war between the city-states of Tuledare and Phamal.
Where the Phamalian forces have been victorious, and the city-state of Tuledare has agreed to surrender earlier this morning.
Well, members of the bureaucracy that runs the day to day decisions of Tuledare have surrendered,
Due to there being none of the members of the ruling council in the city. In fact, pretty much all of them have been missing since the war got underway, less than four weeks ago.
After seeing that her younger brother Jovan, and those with him, have exited the massive square. Maiya Garney nods for her squad to follow her. She leads the way further along the steps, to where field commander Drubine and others have gathered.
The lead scout, who is essentially a junior officer in the second division of the Fifth Army of Farque.
Stops near where the ork general Dorc da Orc is sitting, sprawled out on the steps. With Shur Kee the monk standing nearby.
While the large ork's bitter rival sir Percavelle Le Dic is standing not all that far away, keeping an eye on the big, burly ork from the southern polar region of the world.
The ork warleader acknowledges there presence with a grunt, then he continues looking into one of his sacks that he carries.
Maiya Garney who definitely doesn't want to know what's in that, almost jumps in surprise when someone next to her suddenly says "So they've given up have they?".
"Highness" says the lead scout in surprise as she looks at Helbe the elven thief who has suddenly appeared next to her.
The young elven noble, who ultimately is her commander, as he controls the infiltration squads in the Scouts and Rangers division of the Armies of Farque, nods his hooded head in greeting to her, and the other members of her squad.
Then the elf, who if the rumours that the scout Garney has heard, is also an assassin for Lord Farque, says "Dorc, come along" he continues with "I've got something to tell Tam and the others".
The elven princeling nods for Shur Kee the monk and sir Percavelle Le Dic to follow him as well. They do, after Dorc da Orc grunts, and gets up and follows the elven masterthief, who walks along the steps to where field commander Drubine is.
The lead scout Maiya Garney shares a look with sergeant Blufont, who nods. And the two of them, with their squad behind them, follow the others.
Tamric Drubine turns when Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy gestures behind the young field commander who is in charge of the Fifth Army of Farque.
And with a wry smile upon his face as he sees who's walking towards him, here on the steps in front of the main building of the ruling council of the city-state of Tuledare, Tamric Drubine the field commander says "Where have you been?" followed by "And did you take one of the Krean scoutships?" he then adds "I was missing one for the attack on the city yesterday".
With a slight wince upon his face, Helbe the elven thief says "Yeah I" he briefly pauses before continuing with "Borrowed one".
Then after clearing his throat, the young elven noble from the island principality of Laerel adds "And I've been here and there".
Maiya Garney who stands further back from prince Helbenthril Raendril, sees him go silent as he looks at field commander Drubine.
The young noble originally from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, eyebrows shoot up in surprise then he says "How did you" he pauses then adds "Where did you find them?".
Then the commander of the Fifth Army of Farque, who is in charge of the war effort for the city-state of Phamal, falls silent and looks at the elf in the white hooded cloak.
After a few moments, field commander Drubine slightly nods, then he turns to the cleric Beldane and says to him "Back to the headquarters".
Referring to the inn that Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy has been using as a base during the build up to yesterday's attack upon the city of Tuledare.
"Quickly as possible" adds Tamric Drubine who is often referred to as Tam by those who are close to him, he then adds "There's things when need to discuss".
The powerful fighting cleric in the church of Glaine nods then he moves away from the others, and starts casting.
Maiya Garney slightly nods, when from behind her, when the spellcaster in her squad, the sorcerer Carnid quietly says "Gateway". Referring to a cleric's version of a rift.
Quickly a black gateway forms, and Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy, quickly followed by Helbe the elven thief are the first to go through it.
They're followed by some of field commander Drubine's personal guard, then the young field commander himself. Others follow after him, including those in the group who travel with Lord Farque.
Not wanting to be left behind, and having to walk all the way back to the Traveler's Comfort inn. Maiya Garney quickly leads her squad through the gateway.
Before the last of field commander Drubine's staff go through, and finally Beldane the cleric go through the gateway.
The other side of which is behind the stables of the inn that Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy has been using here in the capital of the city-state of Tuledare.
Back at the Traveler's Comfort inn, Maiya Garney the lead scout along with sergeant Blufont head upstairs behind some of the others. Hoping to see what's going on.
The two of them are allowed in the upstairs suite that the spy Tanith has been using, infact they're the last two allowed in before one of field commander Drubine's personal guards closes the door, after stepping out into the hallway.
The two of them from one of the infiltration squads, stand against the wall near the door, so that they're out of the way of the others as certain things are discussed.
"Tell them" says Tamric Drubine the field commander as he stands next the large table in the middle of the large room.
"I've captured the members of the ruling council of Tuledare" says Helbe the elven thief, who briefly pauses before adding "All of them".
The young elven noble who is the grandson of the ruling prince of Laerel, holds up a hand as the questions start to flow from the others.
The elven masterthief who has already told field commander Drubine what's happening by way of a mindspeech spell he cast to the young noble originally from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, then says "This is what happened".
The elf, a member of the personal council to Lord Farque, who holds the position of envoy for the undead warlord.
Then goes onto explain how he found the members of the ruling council of Tuledare, then how he apprehended each of them, and finding out what they had been up to.
"Those greedy bastards" says Beldane the cleric after prince Helbenthril Raendril explains what he's been up to.
"Start a war, all to full their coffers" adds the powerful fighting cleric who hails from the kingdom of Nastell.
"The greed of mankind" quietly says Shur Kee the monk with a shake of his head, with some of the others nodding in agreement with him.
"Can't believe you found a fair few of them up in Vexil" says Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy who follows that with "The Tuledarians usually hate the Vexilians, and vice versa".
The elven master archer nods his hooded head in agreement with that, then he says "They put aside that hatred for the chance of gold and silver".
The grandson of Prince Raendril of Laerel, continues with "They wanted a lot of the unruled lands between here and Phamal" he then adds "Now they're not going to get any of it".
"Question is, what are we going to do with them?" asks Saanea the witch as she looks at her lover, Tamric Drubine.
Ignoring Dorc da Orc who says "Fucken kill 'em" quickly followed by "Now" then enthusiastically "Me will fucken do it".
The young field commander in charge of the Fifth Army of Farque says "I was thinking of handing them over to the Phamalians" he briefly pauses before adding "Or even better, to the people here in the city".
The son of a former Knight of Castle Drubine, which can be found in the forested north of the kingdom of Sarcrin, says "They'll be pissed once they find out what the ruling council did to them, and their own nation".
The field commander is about to say something else, when there's a knock on the door, and one of Tamric Drubine's personal guards, opens the door and says "Field commander, a messenger from down south".
Tam nods for the messenger to be let in, and a young black clad Farqian soldier from the Scouts and Rangers division enters.
After the door closes behind him, the messenger takes a few steps further into the room, and says to Tamric Drubine "Field commander our Lord has returned". Absolute silence greets this, and the young messenger adds "He has the mage with him".
After a more than a few moments of continued silence, as everyone looks at everyone as they take in what the messenger has just said.
It's Helbe the elven thief who finally breaks the silence, when he dryly says "Well shit" followed by "Didn't expect that at all" . . . . . .
