Soldier Of Gods 30.

The City Of Tuledare.

Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy looks out one of the open windows in his room here in the Traveler's Comfort inn.
And in the fading light of dusk, he looks away to the right, where in that direction stood barracks of the Tuledarian army.
They're no longer there, nor is the watchtower of the city guard in the other direction along the main street in the south of the city.
There's barely any rubble where the barracks once stood. There's just crater after crater where the barracks were, and in the parade grounds in front of where the barracks buildings were previously.
The spy who is originally from the elven principality of Alínlae, where he previously served in one of the more prominent noble houses of his homeland.
Closes the window shutters when there's a knock on the door, which opens without him telling whoever it is outside, to enter.
Turning around, Dalinvardèl Tanith the elven spy after slipping a hidden dagger back into it's place of concealment, says "Tam".
A yawning Tamric Drubine grunts in reply, and closes the door behind him, in the face of one his adjuncts.
"Didn't expect you so soon" says the elven spy who is a commander in the Scouts and Rangers division of the Armies of Farque.
Slumping into one of the chairs in the large upstairs room that the spy Tanith has been using, Tamric Drubine the field commander says "Thought it best I was here".
The overall commander of the Fifth Army of Farque, who is in charge of the attack upon the city-state of Tuledare on behalf of the city-state of Phamal, continues with "We've won, they just haven't realized it yet".
The young field commander, who is of noble birth, originally from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin, follows that with "I doubt they even know yet that their army along the southern border has been totally decimated".
Nodding in agreement, Dalinvardèl Tanith or Dalin as he's more commonly called by those who know well, says "More than likely" followed by "Their lines of communication have been unreliable even before we entered the fray".
The spy Tanith then asks the young field commander "Who did you leave in command down there?".
Dalin pauses for a moment, before continuing in a tone of surprise, and alarm with "It wasn't Dorc was it?".
Tamric Drubine or Tam as more often than not, he's called by those who know him well, has just poured himself a glass of water from the jug on the side table next to him, and taken a couple of gulps from, until he splutters after hearing that from the elven spy.
"Hell no" says field commander Drubine after wiping drops of water off his face, he then adds in a slightly dry tone with "We're not that desperate".
Tam who is the son of a former Knight of Castle Drubine, a castle that lies in the forested north of the kingdom of Sarcrin, then says "Tovis is in command of the army down there" followed by "He's got things well in control".
"That's good to know" murmurs Dalin as he knows that at least someone with competence is in command of the army down in the southern border region.
"Who did you bring with you?" asks the elven spy originally from the principality of Laerel.
"Saanea and Zam, as well as most of my senior staff" replies the field commander who informs Dalin that they arrived by a Krean scoutship, which earlier in the day, was one of the ones that attacked the city of Tuledare.
And is now high up in the early night sky directly above the capital of the city-state of Tuledare.
The spy Tanith nods, then asks "The others?" followed by "The rest of the group?".
"They'll be arriving later" replies Tam, who continues on with "Sometime in the night" he then adds in a slightly dry tone "That's if those two idiots aren't trying to kill one another".
The elven spy wryly smiles as he knows exactly who the young field commander is referring to. Dorc da Orc and sir Percavelle Le Dic.
"Tell me you didn't have those two together in the fighting down there?" asks the elf who is a commander in the Armies of Farque.
Tamric Drubine flashes a grin, then he says "They were" he then chuckles when the elven spy rolls his eyes.
"Had them with Lis and her company" says the young field commander, who then adds "Shur Kee was there to keep them in line".
Dalin nods as he knows the short statured monk from the far east coast of the continent, is one of just a few people that both the ork warleader and his bitter rival the former paladin, kind of actually listen to.
"As well as Malisse" adds the young noble originally from the feudal kingdom of Sarcrin.
The spy Tanith frowns, then he nods in recognition, and says "The hordesman" followed by "Forgot who that there for a moment".
Field commander Drubine nods as well, then he dryly says "He certainly hasn't" he continues on with "He's moaned and bitched about being her ever since it happened" followed by "And it's only been a couple of weeks or so".
Dalin faintly similes, then after shrugging his shoulders, the commander in the Scouts and Rangers division of the Armies of Farque says "If he didn't want to be her, he shouldn't of got himself killed".
Tam grunts in agreement, then after a quick look around at the rather large upstairs room that the spy Tanith has been using whilst here in the city of Tuledare, the field commander who is in overall command of the attack upon the city-state of Tuledare, says "I thought Helbe would be here".
After shrugging his shoulders again, Dalinvardèl Tanith says "Who knows where he is" the elven spy follows that with "His highness said he was off to go and check on something".
The elf from the principality of Laerel continues with "Something about the members of the their ruling council".
With a slight frown upon his face, field commander Drubine says "One of your reports mentioned that they had fled the city and left others in charge".
Dalin nods to that, then he says "His highness has probably located them" followed by "Wherever there is".
Tam grunts at hearing that, as he wonders where the elven thief who is a member of Lord Farque's personal council, has gone to.
The young field commander in the Armies of Farque then looks at the spy Tanith who asks him "Any word from".
"Nothing" replies Tamric Drubine as he interrupts the elven spy who hails from the principality of Alínlae.
The elf who is a commander in the Scouts and Rangers division of the Armies of Farque grunts, then he changes the subject and says "The infiltration squads will report to me early in the morning".
Field commander Drubine nods for him to continue, and Dalin adds "They'll know if anyone of significance turned up at those locations we targeted".
The elven spy, who like Tamric Drubine is a member of the group that travels with Lord Farque, then says "I doubt anyone of authority will show up" followed by "Most of those here would of been killed in the Krean strikes".
Dalinvardèl Tanith continues with "Only officials and other bueraucrats left to run things here".
The young field commander sourly smiles, then says "Might be difficult to get a surrender" and after a brief pause, he adds "We'll figure something out".
There's a knock at the door, and after a glance at Tam who nods, the spy Tanith calls out "Enter".
The door opens, and Saanea the witch and the former mercenary Zam make their way inside.
With the later closing the door in the face of the same adjunct to the field commander, that Tamric Drubine closed the door in the face of earlier.
"We were able to get rooms" says Saanea the witch, who also happens to be the partner and lover of the the young field commander.
The spellcaster who hails from the Maldin Hills, which is near the west coast of the Southlands, looks around at the room Dalin has been using, then dryly says "Though nothing as large and ornate as this one".
The elven spy in the Scouts and Rangers division of the Armies of Farque grins then says "Might as well have a place of comfort during my rather dangerous mission here in the heart of enemy territory".
While the ex mercenary Zam grins, and Saanea the witch sourly smiles, and Tamric Drubine rolls his eyes, the spy Tanith says "Besides his highness picked it".
"Figures" dryly says field commander Drubine, who follows that with "Of course the royal thief would pick it". Dalin shrugs his shoulders and holds up his hands, as if to say, what can I do?
Then the young noble in his early twenties, who finds himself in command of the Phamalian war effort against the city-state of Tuledare, says to the elven spy "So what else have you found out?.
Dalinvardèl Tanith gestures for them to gather around the table in the middle of the large room. Once they do, he unrolls a couple of maps of the city of Tuledare, and says "This is what we know".
The four of them talk late into the night, discussing a number of things concerning the war between the city-states of Phamal and Tuledare.
But primarily the surrender of the city-state of Tuledare, which for all intensive purposes, has been defeated. Not that the Tuledarians themselves actually realize it yet . . . . . .
